It says newer model but not much detail. Presuming it is as it says so and it’s TP Link. It looks better as it’s a lot smaller. Just wondering why they’d put a newer model on at the same price?
TAPO An offshoot of TP-Link, a global provider of reliable networking devices and accessories, Tapo possesses insightful industry awareness and reliable production practices. tapo.com/en/…ry/
It looks like new model will work with other plugs next to it so that is a massive bonus

Wanted to try one of these for a while, so why not Heat added
Have smart plugs ever been known to go loopy and start turning on and off the connected device?

Maybe I am creating an issue where there isn't one. They would perhaps be a lot better to control indoor security lighting in rooms whilst away from home as the times they are on could be changed from day to day via the app.
The new version has a max 10 amp load. Can I use it with my tumble dryer or do I need to get this one that supports 13a?

I ended up going for the original posters one but a pack of two cos you could only add one for £12.99 and pack of two is £25.99. Only because all my other ones are the same and are KASA smart. I like all mine on the KASA app cos it’s idiot proof. Never had problems with them either.

What's the old version max amperage?
Just ordered 3 of the larger ones...and now a smaller version appears ...gahhhh
Have had two of these for around 6 months and no issues at all with them. Heat from me.

13A. The new ones uses a different Tapo app. These uses a Kesa app. You really wouldn’t want to mix and match.
I’ve heard these can run hot. Is that true?

I decided to go with the original in the endbecause I like the KASA app on my others. You could always edit your order if you really want the smaller ones.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with them. Or re-order and return?
I got quite a few and all work no problem - just bought another one to control ? Thanks declanwhitfield

Have a few of them dotted around I've been using daily for months.

So I just felt a couple of them for you.

One with active devices running off it - slightly warm, but not hot.

One with no device currently active on it. Still slightly warm, but not quite as warm (I think - not a lot in it really) as the active one.

No problems with mine. KASA app is what I like and yes, you can schedule them whenever, turn on and off whenever either voice control in the house or via the app controlno matter where you are in the world. I tested mine while I was away in Texas. My daughter was on FaceTime from home so did it to check it worked.
Excellent, decided to preorder the newer model to break my smart plug virginity!
Looks like they are trying to clear stock with these deals as the newer model is coming out, though the newer model (tapo) is the same price???
Can I use this one as a WiFi extender as well.

"Remote access - control devices connected to the smart plug wherever you use the free Kasa app on your smartphone"

Though it then says "You can turn devices on/off, check status, create schedules and set timers using the 'tape' app"

The TP-Link outlets will use the TAPA App

The Teckin outlets use the SmartLife App. The difference between the two Teckin models is simply one is square and the other circular to accommodate for your socket outlet arrangements.
So I guess I might as well buy these if they In essence do exactly the same. Is there a logical shape that is better square vs circle....

I assume smart life app is okay? I guess once they are set up it's all done via voice and alexa anyway?

Wow that's cheap. Voted hot.
Oooh, this is nice! I went for two of those new "Tapo" (Bell?) ones available for pre-ordering for the same price. Still had that "GIFT05" Amazon voucher, so that came down to a little over a tenner each. Sweet!
Great ordered
I've got 5 of these, work really well. I use Google home to control them plus use the built in timers. Good price
Edited by: "Banzibarn123" 24th Oct 2019
no energy monitoring!!
Do you need a bridge (not sure if that is the correct name) for multiple plugs with google?
