You connect the plug to your home WiFi and then you can turn the lamp on/off anywhere you are using WiFi or mobile data. You can also set schedules so the lamp will come on/off at set times. I have two and they work really well!
Still reliant on a third party service to control these are you not.

You're reliant on TP Link's service if that's what you mean?

You can use the app or if you have the amazon alexa control them with that. How else would a WiFi plug work? Telepathy?

Home assistant can control them without the need for external cloud services. I have two and they work great

You obviously lack the intellect to understand the question I was asking, funnily enough the other two people who replied had no such problem.

Only when switching them on / off when outside of your home and not using the local WIFI. If using local WIFI then you can control them purely by Alexa and bypass Kasa app if you wanted.
Good price but prefer to buy from Amazon after this Poor show
Are these worth the extra over the Sonoff wifi plugs on here a few weeks ago that were about £5 each? Mine just arrived yesterday and they seem very good.

Each to their own, I'd rather buy anywhere but Amazon.

Don’t lack intelligence at all thank you. I missed the point but not through lack of intelligence. No need for keyboard bashing. Hope you’re not that quick to insult in real life. My initial comment wasn’t intended to be a put down, obviously you received it that way. I’d apologise but your reply doesn’t give me the want or need to.
Deal expired, back to £29.99 update price
if only they made wall-sockets with the smart features I'd replace the whole house worth.
