NB: this is not Kasa compatible and not IFTTT compatible! If you want to use with Kasa and/or IFTTT then you need the HS100/HS110 type.

Do they offer any other functionality over Google assistant?

Do they offer any other functionality over Google assistant?

Don't know, sorry. Once I'd realised it isn't Kasa or IFTTT compatible I didn't dig any deeper.
I see. I use Google assistant to control all smart things, and it kind of acts like a bridge between most platforms. But that comes at a cost, like I can't directly set up timers etc.. only acts on voice commands
It says Google assistant on the box.
My house is a kasa house (erm) so this branding has annoyed me as it's a new app!

That's the only nuisance, shame they can't fix that as it's the same brand otherwise. If you're only using voice doesn't really matter.
I have 2 of these, both work with google assistant, however I have had issues with logging into the tapo app on many occasions (invalid login details)
I'm Kasa in the house and now have these plugs and the camera. both the plug and camera have their own app - Tapo
But all done over Google assistant with no issues.
What is this kasa?

New to the smart devices. Got 2 tapo plugs currently and getting a hue set up.
tradfri plug £8 ikea works well with hue and google

Kasa is the app for tp-link to work with but their latest Tapo stuff needs another app

Errrm ...? "Routines" are set up (and "managed") in the Google Home App on your phone or tablet. Routines can be executed when you speak the command, or at a pre-set time. A 'routine' can be as little as one action, eg 'Switch off the TV Plug'
First to execute a routine by voice is exactly what I said you can do. Second, I know about routines, the problem is they're designed to be set a reoccurring rule, say I want to turn my plug off in two hours I have to create a new routine, and then delete the routine, where in the plugs native app I can just go in the app set the time to turn on and off and that's it. Done.

Also routines are just scheduled voice/text commands
