It's not a pure tplink brand they bought this company but didn't fully integrate it with their own service so uses a separate app etc and why I'd not go near this.
Already have one of these, depends on your needs but have found it better for me than the current, far more expensive Logo Circle cameras we have, it has on board SD card storage and can work locally without the need for the internet if required - so no subscriptions or delays. Quality is excellent as are all the features. It also has the ability to output RTSP stream so can integrate with other solutions, you don't have to use the provided app.
is it able to fast forward and rewind?

So this doesn't require any subscriptions etc? How have you found it in terms of giving alerts with movements or sound? Would it detect someone entering the room? Thinking about getting one for room security

@jonespr1 are you able to help at all?

Yes, as long as you put an SD card in it and set it to record continually or on movement, it's also very fast as not calling the footage down from the cloud.

The massive advantage of this we've found is that it can pan and tilt around the room - the kids were taking advantage of blind spots from our previously fixed camera 😁

No subscriptions required as all stored on memory card - super fast to access when on home WiFi and can still be accessed remotely when not at home. The only caution would be for use case, we use to keep an eye on baby/kids, if you were using for security the downside would be that a burger could just steal the camera and footage would be gone. I have tried motion alerts, will test now and let you know!

I hate it when burgers steal my cameras!

I've had a play with the camera and motion detection worked really well, there are two categories:
- An alert at the camera level, i.e. movement is detected and an alarm is sounded from the camera, you can choose what the sound is and choose to flash the LED's, you can also set a schedule for when the alerts are live.
- Motion detection notifications to your phone, these can be set to record on motion, optionally alerting your phone and you can set specific areas which trigger the alert as well as sensitivity.

Hope that helps!
Please - can someone confirm how this works with a Google/Nest hub display?
What are the display commands/actions?
The Google support page says the TP Link KASA camera is supported but doesn’t mention Tapo... Which is just slightly odd.

Seems like this camera would justify a hub display, IF they play nicely
