8 port Gigabit Switch, Metal ports, power on the same side as the ports. Best ever price according to the camels. Great ratings. What more can you say.

I have this. It just works. Plug and play
Nice price. I got this a week or so ago for £16.50. As Max says, it does the job well.

I prefer it to other models as the power socket is at the back, with the ethernet sockets, so it looks much neater in a home. The metal housing models are fine for a server room but are damn ugly.

I wouldn't say the metal ones are ugly - they look pretty cool in an unbreakable military sort of way

this TL-SG1008D will be fine but you wouldn't want to drop a piano on it
Are the ports the right way up though?!

(Yes)

I have this, however it struggles when fully connected. I find it only really gets good performance from 5 ports. Now that’s connecting for home entertainment and not office though.

it's probably not the switch struggling but your bandwidth
Pardon my ignorance. ..is there any similar switch on which you can install VPN? Thanks

I'd never heard of one, but after a bit of Googling...

I like the idea, but I have no idea if this model is any good - seems worth a punt at that price though..

Hot! Now if only there were a deal on the 8 port Asus 10gbe switch.
Very Good deal.
be aware there are two variants of this model - the "older v6" one is shown has LED's on the front, I thought this was preferable, however accidentally ordered for £16.87 couple weeks ago the v7 one.
the only notable differences i could see is the activity LED's are at the rear and it has "802.3x Flow Control, 802.1p/DSCP QoS"
whether this has an effect i cant say so i kept the newer version.

Wouldn't recommend this as no longer supported. Blurb:

NETGEAR Inc. will terminate the ProSAFE VPN Firewalls on September 1, 2017. The last software update for these products was provided in April 2017. NETGEAR Inc. will continue to honor valid warranty claims for all ProSAFE VPN Firewall devices purchased from an authorized reseller. To complete the full exit from the product line, NETGEAR Inc. will no longer provide ProSAFE VPN Firewall software support or subscription updates for any ProSAFE VPN Firewall devices after September 1, 2017.
I'd rather have the Netgear for an extra 99p; amazon.co.uk/dp/…IYG
