Great price, I have one f these with a hub hanging off it. Good price for a 300mps version, normally the 150 versions cost more

Looks like it's worth checking out the reviews for this item on Amazon before ordering. Quite a few people seem to report problems, especially with BT Hubs.

Never thought I would need one of these, until I've started sitting out in the garden when the weather's nice and realised my laptop can't connect to the wifi - is this all I need?

Ideal for homes with thick walls. I can confirm that these things work very well.

BT Hubs channel hop by default, which tends to cause problems with extenders.

One of the newer Sky ones does that too - it's massively stupid as it tends to mean if you're neighbour has the same box, they will ALWAYS choose the same channel.

WTG there

Also - and OT from this deal - has anyone seen any really good deals on powerline/Wifi combo gear (e.g. 2 adaptors talking over powerline, one of which can create a new wifi network at the far end?)

Our house is too small for the 'halfway booster' approach that this offers so I need that 'powerline wired' bit of the puzzle.

been waiting for this to come down a bit as I don't really need it, I'd just like slightly better wifi in the back of my extension

ordered at this price

Would have bought this if there weren't so many problems with BT Hubs. Seems to be a good price anyways though so voted hot.

Best would be Devolo, various options in 200 or 500.

Tempted by this. Can anyone vouch for it's reliability and signal boost?

I've got one and it works superbly with the Virgin Media super Hub
Can't fault it and only takes 5 mins to set up !
Hot indeed as I'm sure I paid over £20 for this

thanks just ordered !

Got one and works brilliantly. Extends the range of wifi really well.

Thanks for posting! Been on look out for one these to extend range out into garden for when weather's nice to use Spotify etc, for the price above it'll do nicely

Will it boost both the g and n wireless signal from the Virgin Super Hub at the same time?

I bought this from argos last week as since moving bedrooms the signal was rubbish in my room, had a few problems at first but now it's working fine and does the job great, it's plugged in on the landing outside my room and I just switch it on when I go to my room I'm with virgin media.

How about thick users, is it easy to set up?

ordered many thanks

I have one of these and it is brilliant. I live in a Welsh Stone house with really thick walls, this allows me to get wifi up stairs no problem. It even reaches out into the garden. Set up is one button push. Couldn't be simpler. Hot!

Do these things create a second network - i.e. do they have a different SSID from the original wi-fi? Or do you need to tell your phone manually to connect to the one your nearest to?

I have rigged something up manually with old wif-fi routers but often i come downstairs and my phone is still connected to the weaker upstairs one instead of the strong signal I would be sat right next to. I was just wondering if this would solve this issue?

Thanks,

Guys I bought one of these and the range extending ability is excellent but it does tend to drop out quite a lot!!
Everytime it drops out you have to re input your router password to reconnect which is really annoying!!

So mixed reviews from me on this, its good but drops connection at least 5 times a day!!

Oh just to add I live in a stone built Welsh cottage too with 24inch thick walls

it does g and n on 2.4ghz but not 5ghz mode

Can someone give me a bit of guidance on how these work please, I tried before and bundled mine in a drawer though frustration.

Do I put this in the location with the poor wifi signal? Or do I put it in a location a bit closer to the router so it picks up a better signal and then forwards it on to the poor location?

I spent seveal hours trying to get this to work, but am thinking as I might have been using the former that's why the signal wasn't really being boosted?

Thanks for any advice.

I understand these require a firmware upgrade to improve performance/compatibility.

After the firmware upgrade how is performance with BTHomeHub3? (if anyone has any experience)

Many Thanks

p.s. Hot price

How do these work when the signal from your hub is almost as strong as the signal from this booster?

I got one of the free Sky boosters and I was finding whenever it was turned on a lot of my devices just wouldn’t work well. They would keep losing connection for a few seconds. I highly suspected it was the device jumping from the hub to the booster and back again.

I'm on TalkTalk & my WiFi doesn't work upstairs.

Is this good for me? How does it work?

Had one and ended up returning it... It wouldn't connect to my sky broadband router using the WPS buttons so had to watch the youtube video and connect it using the laptop and ethernet. Also any time I went a week or so without any use it was like it just erased the connection to the router so I had to keep doing the whole connecting palaver all over again oO

You'll probably get to use it for no more than a day or two each summer. They do work fabulously, it's just the weather that will determine if this is a good deal for you or not.

ordered and have some heat gotta be worth 16.49 to surf on my sun lounger in the back garden...!!!

Was about to order one of these last week for £23..

Thanks OP ordered one now..

You stick this somewhere between your good and poor reception areas, and it'll connect to your main WIFI router, and (in simple terms) relay everything, extending the range of your WIFI.

I own the 150Mbp/s version of this, and although it is good value for money be aware that it isn't the most robust solution in the world.

Expect occasional network outages and the need to reboot fairly frequently, especially if you have a high(ish) network throughput.

Will it be ok to connect an 8 port network switch to this?

I'm looking to use one of these with a BT homehub. Can you not just fix the channel and avoid most of the problems? Anyone with any experience of using this successfully with homehub?
