May or may not be relevant, but I thought I'd chuck in my penny'th about TP link experience.

I've just binned a TP-Link USB wireless dongle. - Awful!

In side-by-side competition with an old BT voyager USB dongle, a BT Voyager PCMCIA and a Netgear PCMCIA, all used in the same location, on the same router, it was abyssmal.

Got one already from SVP

excellent coverage all over house and in back garden through walls and ceiling - certainly no negative points from me :-D
Oh and have cable if that helps anybody deciding, check out the reveiws 10/10

it didnt get Winner of Computer Shopper Best Budget Buy award for nothing

mine has arrived at home but i work away in the week was unsure at first but when i went on svp and saw 10/10 across the board along with the award just jumped at it
