thanks. i have just used this service via their website. Although it was a pain in the arse to actually get onto my account on their new website, it was very straight forward once i had done so. here is a link for guidance

Yes I had and wondered that too. I am being sent a supplementary ticket with the amendment, so I'll need to take that and the old ones on said train with me.

Not really a "deal", more of the OP describing a revelation on a website they've just found. Use if you want no fees, or if you want no fees and a bit of cashback, then East Midlands Trains via TopCashback.

OP - had you already received your original dated tickets? just wondering what happens if you have your tickets already

Great...I am off to buy a ticket for a journey I don't need...I will put the wrong details so I will make use of this great deal

I've never needed it and I've used this journey 5 times a week over the past 5 month, all I've shown is my 16-25 rail card

When you show your ticket to the inspector won't you need to have the discount card and student ID?

reececharteris I think that should work, alternatively you can download the app and input TPESTUDENT which is a lot easier

Sorry it's my first post not completely sure how to use it, but if you go into the TPE website, there will be an option for student prices, I'll find a link.

Guess so

Did you manage to work it out scunny?

It is only available on Transpennine trains. As far as I can see on the map Windermere is not served by Transpennine. You can book a return to Oxenholme which is on the offer and then book a separate return ticket for £7.90 from Oxenholme to Windemere making it still a cheap day out around £39 in total.

over £90 return Scunthorpe to Windemere with my disabled adult rail card. How do I book at the offer price? Can't see it and yes I'm sad to say over 55 too.

Transpennine Express App - Made in India - lol

The only problem with this deal is that their new app is the worst train app out their. And they did a beta app test before it came out and still came out with it even though the results they got were to keep to the old version...

its an absolutely incredible deal, half price even for railcard holders, so 67% off for railcard e.g. Manchester to york first class £5.60. its actually for everyone not just existing customers, as long as code NEWAPP is used. perhaps change title , OP? Thanks

Cold. Their special offer fares should be available through their website not some crappy little app.

Their after sales is a pain, buy only if you are sure you won't ever need to contact them.

Thanks OP. You can't get the normal extra 16-25 railcard discount on top. So for standard class advances with 16-25 railcard, it's the same price. Where it does win, however is on first class advances with 16-25 as normally you can't get extra discount on those.

It was available nationwide, then cut-back to London only. London has a much bigger transport budget (x3 per capita) than anywhere else in the UK.

You also get 4.5% topcashback and nectar points. Always worth checking the northern fares too as said above.

anything else job seekers want for nowt?

I doubt TPE will have this offer if one can only get the railcard in London as they don't go near London. The TPE and both seem to imply it's available nationwide to any age.

If I remember rightly. In order to receive a 'Jobcentre plus' railcard you must live within London and be under 24. It's not available anywhere else in the UK for unemployed people. Very limited terms.

I think there's some confusion. The link for the offer for 25% off Advance TPE tix bought in next day for specific dates: "The 25% discount applies to TransPennine Express Advance Purchase tickets bought between 12:00 Tuesday 3rd May and 12:00 Thursday 5th May 2016. Tickets must be for travel between Wednesday 4th May and Saturday 23rd July 2016, Bank holidays not included and must be purchased through the website link Discount is only available on tickets routed TPE Only and TPE & Connections, not valid on any other types of tickets. Not available on bank holiday date 30th May" Can confirm it works as already bought Middlesbrough-York tix with 25% off :) TPE tickets can be self-printed as A4 size National Rail tickets too for extra convenience for those with a printer handy!

This offer (as is usually the case with train ticket offers) is only available on Advance fares. There are never any Advance fares available for Scunthorpe to Sheffield tickets, so you won't find any tickets cheaper than the off peak day return. You can see all ticket types available for Scunthorpe to Sheffield here:!fares?orig=SCU&dest=SHF The only tickets available are ones you can buy at the station on the day you travel. So there's no advantage buying in advance unless you want cashback or nectar points, which you can get from the Transpennine website. You should never buy tickets from Trainline. They're ALWAYS more expensive than buying direct from the train company because of the fees they add on. They don't have access to any cheaper fares than the train companies so they're just a rip off, using their misleading adverts to con people into paying more than they have to.

Just tried again and exact same price as trainline £15.20

Want to go on the 10.08 from scunny and return same day after 18.00. Daughter at uni and we go often can't find cheaper than trainline.

From Grimsby? Promotional fares available for £5.60 on the 09:34, £5.10 on the 10:34, £7.00 on the 13:34. Returning on the 18:10 for £7.

Will have a llok at this

NB: you MUST buy the tickets on their website by Sunday 10/4 and they say "tickets are limited" though whether thats the normal Advance allocation limit, or an extra 50% off limit isn't clear! "The 50% discount applies to TransPennine Express Advance Purchase tickets only, bought between Monday 4th April and Sunday 10th April 2016 and must be purchased through the website link Here's a link to their website's TPE Network map to help you spot opportunities for " TPE Only and TPE & Connections" routes that this Advance tickets offer applies to. In their journey planner the applicable (long-distance) Advance fares appear with a red asterisk and "*promotional discount" eg £8.25 from Manchester Picadilly to Glasgow Central (bi-hourly service) from £10.85 from Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle-upon-Tyne (hourly service) When looking on their site for clues as to routes with Advance tickets, also found they have GENEROUS TERMS for advances from their Airports... "The Airport Advance has replaced the Airport Getaway ticket. It is a single fare train ticket with the same terms and conditions as Advance tickets. Although the ticket is train specific, as a concession, journeys starting at Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport can be made up to 3hrs after the specified departure time, or on the next available TransPennine Express service, if proof of a delayed flight can be produced. This is the only difference to other Advance tickets. Should your flight be delayed, please ensure that you obtain documentation from your airline that this is the case." Checked and the 50% discount offer DOES get applied to "Airport Advance" tickets too! [Wish Virgin West Coast did that with Birmingham International fares!]

Used to love travelling around the UK on trains back in the days ...good times

Very true Zebo!!! If they had a stop at golcar I would probably risk it!!

Good offer, but families avoid taking the train on weekends in Colne Valley (Huddersfield) area due to ale trailers.

Might work for those born on 29th February

That's good offer, however if you already have a family railcard the 1/3 off your fare might be better value than the free child fare.

Same here. Signed up for all 5 train lines on 23 April, got "thank you" emails; no Nectar points. On 28 April couldn't log in to a few of the sites, reset password on two sites, and got "account activation" email on another. Still no Nectar points. (Nectar card number is correct.) Logging in is tricky; it says I am logged in but when I click on My account it asks for my password, I type in my password, then it redirects me to the "Register as new user" page, where on the right it already displays my name (so I *am* logged in and registered).

Me too, I can't log in now, but I have already transferred my points to ebay vouchers.

To answer my own question, the answer is yes it can be used towards any rail service within the UK.

Do these vouchers strictly have to be redeemed for transpennine services only??

Anyone got a spare code they don't want? Thanks

I booked the 60 pound in one account. so It works.

The T&C's on mine say: *The £10-off voucher PIN must be redeemed by GMT 23.59 Thursday 13 March 2014, after which time the voucher will expire and no longer be redeemable. The £10-off discount applies to advance purchase tickets bought on First TransPennine Express services only between Friday 28 February 2014 and Thursday 13 March 2014.

Thankyou, I have just saved £10 on my journey.

I did Sheffield - Manchester and return for £2.95 each way on Wednesday, can't say fairer than that.

No difference for me. Got the email. Waste of time.

What I did last time I landed at Birmingham International was have a Virgin Advance valid for about 1hr20m after the plane was DUE to land. Actually landed about 20 minutes early so I was on the platform in time for the hourly train before and was able to ask the train manager if it was OKay for me to get on his earlier train and he said 'get on' and when he came round checking tickets said it was really good to be asked (worst he could have said is NO = where I was already)!

Thanks for the link, it seems a monthly return would be £62, one way tickets, about £8 - £12 each, looks like I'll risk it booking a specific train and hope the flights are on schedule.
