Seems to have good reviews. Was looking for a potential game for my son, so can't comment from experience, but checked and it's the cheapest it's ever been I think.

Ahh good to know. Guess it's the best for a while at least.
The one last year will have been the previous edition with different routes.

Be aware with this game if you fail the mission you lose all progress. On numerous occasions I had done a couple of hours driving and accidently went through a red and you have to start again from the beginning. Very frustrating and it made me stop playing.

That doesn't sound overly fun. Then again I guess if it's a sim, running the red might mean the ultimate end, no restarts.

Please tell us you are not a real train driver...

Out of interest, how hard is the game generally. I'd imagine it's mainly stations that are tricky, but my 3 year old loves watching this kind of things on YouTube and I was wondering whether the inbetween stations bit might be accessible to him feeling like he can "drive" with some assistance. Your comment makes it sound very unforgiving though, which I wouldn't be surprised about for a Sim game tbh.

It's not difficult you just have to keep an eye on the main things like speed and red lights. A lot of the game is waiting round for speed to change or for upcoming signals. The trains also take a bit of getting used to how to start.

Thank you for the quick and helpful reply. Might take the jump and see how it goes.
Fantastic game for anyone with an interest in the railways (like me!)

Going through a red in real life would lead to being stood down, interviewed, disciplined possibly demoted to another role or getting your p45.
Where I work which is a little more lenient than others 3 reds and your instantly demoted to station staff.
That being said I would find it very annoying on a game.
