train tickets: london to Brighton/Portsmouth/other south-east stations at £3 each way @ National Express East Coast
Hi,
I am unsure where to post this, as it might be a normal price or a bug (I don't take the train much)
National Express East Coast currently sells train tickets from london - brighton for this summer are at £3 each way.
What is weird is that the nationalrail website price them at £5, but that none of the 14 other train operators has these tickets at £5 (their cheapest is £13 or so).
It might be the same for other south-east or national destinations, but I don't have the time to try. If you try, give us feedback ;-)
So, if like me you're planning a couple of days in Brighton this summer, enjoy!
edit 1: be sure to select 'London Victoria' not 'London (all)'
edit2: also works for Portsmouth and other stations in the south east. Thanks pompeyrich for testing!

I have been using the advanced booking fares at £10 return.
i am getting £3 if you click the singles from "£3-£19"
Railcards are £24 a year now.
:!: BEWARE :!: It is still working, but you have to type 'London Victoria' as your departure point. It does not seems to work with 'London (All)'. Do NOT ask me why
Thanks for that!! Found it
Thats what I was missing, was using "London All", Cheers
Great, will edit the original post accordingly!
cheers
Just tried, and cannot find less than £21.60... sorry
I choose the 'send by royal mail at your place' option. ;-)
I used the machines once, it worked fine, but I am always afraid that something will go wrong and that it won't give me my tickets. I don't want to miss a train because of a silly machine...
Unfortunately, the forecast doesn't look v.good for a weekend at the beach
Save a further 30p!!!! per booking via Quidco or Cashback King.
You could go to Brighton for £3 then catch train to Eastbourne from there (not sure of cost).
voted hot
also any suggested places to visit (other than brighton, portsmoth), which this offer s working..
cheers.
need to make a few decisions first, don't you? what you're asking is too broad / vague
This is because another company runs from London Bridge to Brighton - so the computer will only look for tickets that can be used with both companies. National Express East Coast are selling Southern Railway tickets for £3 fare... for some reason.
thanks
bus goes to eastbourne from brighton as well
