I have been using the Transcend 200 model since August. At first I didn't want to spend £70+ but after the hassle of having the cheaper G1W, G1W-C, and Mini 0801 all fail on me I decided to bite the bullet. The Transcend has worked flawlessy since installed, tocuh wood. If you're looking for your first dash cam purhase just buy a decent one straight away. You don't want to discover your camera wasn't recording when something happens.

I believe that the 220 uses a battery instead of the capacitor used in the 200 which is at the moment what I have in my car.Stay away from the new battery version, get a dash Cam with a capacitor for high heat resistance.

So this one you can use without hooking it up to your car? Just stick it on the windscreen and it uses the battery within itself?

The 220 has a built in battery that will last 45 - 60 mins fully charged if you want to remove it from the car but would normally run it off the power lead via a cig lighter or wired into the cars electrical system. The 200 has a built in capacitor to keep the date/time correct so only works off the power lead but has 160 degree wide angle 7 glass lens which is imo better than the 220.

I've got the 200 and have to say it works really well. I'd say the downside is the size of the unit however not massive it's bigger than some other units but bearing in mind the can cost 3 times the price.

On mine I got some black electtical tape and covered the logo and also the silver rin surround on the lens to make it blend in more in the car if anyone was looking in rather than being silver and I also purchased the suction holder which was £5 save using the sticky mounts that came with the unit.

It's hard to compare this to the ones you've described. Fairer comparison would be with mini 806.

£78 here or £70 here:

I personally prefer 806 as its so discreet you don't even notice it and can't see it from the outside, also supports two memory cards

Got this back in July from Amazon for £87. Had to return it for a replacement as it kept freezing the screen and missing video clips. The replacement has been fine since.
Its worth spending the money as Ive had cheapos in the past and they are just ****.
The battery will last about 30 mins, its meant more as a backup than use without cable. The cable supplied is very long , I have it in my Range Rover and it goes across the top windscreen down the side pillar under the floor to the central power point. It comes with a sticky back mount which I actually prefer to the suction mount that can be bought separately. It takes 2 seconds to connect/disconnect by simply sliding the top of the camera into the mount.
It has GPS but I have turned it off. It has sound which I also have turned off. It has safety functions such as lane crossing and collision warning but I found them annoying, they are more of a gimmick really so again , turned off.
The video is superb especially at night, very clear and good quality.
There is an android app that allows you to watch live footage and change settings etc . There is also a motion detector function.
The date and time function has no fault like the previous model, it stays at the correct time/date after connection.

I would recommend it and you will be glad you got it when that Ar*s*ol* hits you . It also good evidence for traffic light jumpers and people that reverse into you.

Really want to get hold of the 200. Missed it at halfords black Friday offer of £60.
