The Transporter (2002): Rules are made to be broken!

Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods - human or otherwise - from one place to another. No questions asked.

Carrying out mysterious and sometimes dangerous tasks in his tricked-out BMW, Martin finds his latest assignment could well be his last after his package is revealed to be a beautiful woman (Shu Qi) at the centre of a human trafficking ring...

Produced by Luc Besson, this insanely entertaining action flick features a pumped-up Jason Statham commanding in the lead role (see him deflect an anti-personnel missile using nothing more than a tray!) with sultry Taiwanese beauty Shu Qi holding her own in Corey Yuen's extravagantly choreographed action sequences.

The Transporter 2 (2005): The best in the business is back in the game...

Professional driver (and ultimate mercenary) Frank Martin (Statham) is now living in Miami, where he is temporarily filling in for a friend as the chauffeur for a government narcotics control policymaker and his family. When the young boy in the family is kidnapped and Frank is implicated in the crime, it's time to hit the road to preserve his professional reputation, outwit the pursuing cops and expose the kidnappers using any and all explosive methods at his disposal!

Loved the first one but the second was absolutely awful. ridiculous looking stunts awful acting unbelievable storyline and why oh why was the stupid woman in her underwear the whole film? that is not a sensible assasin if you ask me. Also the film was clearly heavily sponsored by Audi by the way it's cars are portrayed and never got a scratch. Don't buy this just buy the first one you can pick it up for £3.

i quite enjoyed 2 to be honest more so than 1 lol

They are both great films although the first car chase in the 1st film was the best (IMO)

I got the same boxset from Morrisons for £4 the other week, but still a good price.

I thought both were rubbish tbh - fun in a silly way, and rather entertaining in a way.

The worst part of these movies is the acting, that American villain from the first one is soooooo embarrasingly bad it's unreal lol

I must admit, I can't quite understand Jason Stathan, which is strange seeing as he was only born about 5-10 miles away from me!

Thanks Foxy

Now 6p cheaper @ TheHut

After the third movie is in the (UK) cinemas on 5 December 2008 (out in the US on 26 November 2008), give it another 8 or 9 months, and you'll be able to buy a triple Blu-ray boxed set of all the movies together.

The thing I loved above the scene with the explosive device under the Audi A8L W12 in "Transporter 2" is the convoluted way Frank removes it from the undercarriage upside-down mid-jump past the hook of the crane.

Surely just stopping the car well before the time limit to detonation, gettng out & removing it by hand then throwing it into the distance would have been a lot easier.

Another interesting fact regarding Frank's choice of vehicular transportation; the BMW 750i E38 from "The Transporter" is the only model of this car ever produced with a manual (6-speed) gearbox. Special car for a Special Forces guy!

Apart from the level of escapism required & suspended disbelief required, I have both movies on DVD already, and I can still enjoy watching either when they are on the TV. The only other movie I can do that with is "Enter The Dragon"!

PS. If buying this DVD Boxed Set, has anybody checked if the version of "Transporter 2" included is the 'Uncut Version'?

PPS. “The Transporter” ]on Blu-ray is currently in HMV’s “2 for £25” promotion.

The second movie is ]out on Blu-ray on 1 December 2008.

BFN,

fp.

I recorded both from tv saving £5

i thought 2 was better than 1.
both were great though - like a 1980s hong kong movie transplanted to america.
