Travel Plus Pack £13.50 p/m from Barclays (Can cancel anytime)

I'm planning on driving to France this summer, I was looking at European Breakdown Cover and found this add on from Barclays. This seems to be a decent price for what you get. You will need to have a Barclays account or open one.

For £13.5/month (which can be cancelled any time) You get:

UK and European RAC Comprehensive Breakdown Cover; This alone is already £158 on the RAC Website.

Worldwide Multi-Trip Family Travel Insurance

Airport lounge access - (You’ll get 6 free visits each year, which you can use with accompanying guests)

Key retrieval service - ( replaces keys and locks if your keys are lost or stolen. This includes car hire/travel expenses, costs of vehicle immobilisers or alarms being reset, and costs of replacing vehicle handsets).

Seems a decent deal to me but please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

How many months is this for?
Bare in mind that the airport lounge access cannot be pre-booked and you'll be lucky to gain admittance. My daughter failed last week at 7am in gatwick. They told her they were fully booked for the next month
I suggest you check Nationwide Flex plus account.
Nationwide FlexPlus account is similar, however the Britannia Euro cover includes motorhomes & trip durations up to 6 months, Worldwide travel insurance and commission free ATM withdrawals wolrdwide.
Costs £10 a month, with 3% interest on balances up to £2500 - you also need to pay in £750 per month to qualify

Thank you both for your advise, FlexPlus seems to be the way forward (3% interest on £2.5k is a nice bonus!)

really?they would allow you to cancel after using the lounges? sounds too good to be true.
Just read the ts and cs. It does simply say you can cancel within 14 days with no specific restrctions regarding if you already used any benefit or not.
Yes they do, i asked before.

There is no 12 month contract, it runs month-to-month.

I've never had trouble getting into a lounge in Manchester, and I've been several times, and taken full advantage of the food and drink! There are several lounges in each aiport too, there are five lounges in Gatwick, did she try any of the others?
Does the Nationwide Flexplus account include airport lounges?

There are only 2 in gatwick south, one full for the next month the other closed.
Barclays forums etc are full of people complaining about it. In fact Barclays stopped doing the airport Angel for that very reason and switched to dragon pass, which now suffers from exactly the same problem.
It's exacerbated ATM as the v-room is closed, but it's always been a big problem. We used the no1 lounge last year (with airport Angels) and were VERY lucky to get in. We saw loads turned away afterwards. The lounges are pushing the pre-booking side of it and quite simply Barclays needs to allow the same, ATM they don't.

Sorry, you're incorrect. CPP restructured and decided to close Airport Angel, that's why Barclays had to change providers. As I said previously, I've never had a problem with Manchester or Liverpool airports, but I've never flown from anywhere else. I always use the Escape Lounge in Manchester, love it there.

It may well work from Manchester, but it certainly doesn't work very well from gatwick.
The info came from a personal banker in my local Barclays, they were using it as a selling point for the travel pack.
It is a good deal and I have had the Barclays Travel Pack for a while

Airport lounge access I have used it for lounge access at Gatwick, Stansted, Heathrow, Southend, Malaga & Sharm airports without any issues.
RAC - I've had to use it one.
Worldwide family insurance - My family travels twice per year so handy to have
Key retrieval - Luckily never had to use it but it's good tyo know i'm covered
I tried to use my dragon pass for myself and a friend at The Aspire Lounge in Liverpool Airport last year and we were turned away and told it was full, despite only about a dozen people being in there.
I was told I should have pre-booked. What I didn't realise is that you can't pre-book with the Barclays facility. When you ring the helpline ironically you are told it's a good idea to pre-book at busy times!
I will be traveling 3 times this year via Birmingham and Liverpool during the Summer holidays and quite expect the same thing to happen again!
What's the point of offering a service and charging for it, if people can't use it at the point of need! Someone needs to address this!!
I witnessed several other people being turned away from Barclays lounge in Liverpool and it's most distressing when you're looking forward to it at the start of your holiday.
On a positive note-have used the car break down service and travel insurance which was excellent.
