Where do you arrive at that conclusion - because they're cheap? You tried one or know anything about these even? They may not be Sony but then they're only £59.99 - and not a bad spec at that.

1280x720 = 720p widescreen, which would be considered HD by most. And that is less than 1 megpixel.

The 5 MP is wayyy above HD resolutions, but only for still images, not video.

So yes, 5MP is way above widescreen resolutions, but 1280x720 is the max it will manage for moving video.

someone uploaded some videos on the digital spy forum when they got this camera/recorder

Different camera & spec. Apart from the fact you'll be lucky to find one, the spec is less than this - 38mb internal memory against 64mb, only accepts up to 4gb sd cards against 8gb, no tripod, 1 yr guarantee against 3 yrs etc etc

MP is for still photography. HD is for video.

To be honest, if anyone would buy their technology in Aldi, then they're not really that interested in looking for quality products...

This obviously isn't aimed at those that want top quality and expense - it's for the many on a tight budget that don't necessarily need the Sony or Panny upmarket ones  Looking at the response made to you above, seems you don't know an awful lot about HD and still photography anyway...

Thanks for the sarcastic personal attack there. :whistling: If someone is on that tight a budget, maybe they should be buying food and clothes and not poor quality cameras!

That's their choice, but at least if you're going to come on and sl*g a deal off make sure you're qualified to do so first?

Good deal or not duplicate has just qualified as pretentious burk of the week.

great deal

Excellent deal for hd and 3 year warranty ( £60!), hot.

That stupid statement is exactly the reason why i don`t post on these boards much.
where have you been hiding for the last 12 months or so, do you not realise theres an economic recession on ?

They are NOT poor quality cameras, at the same time they are not top of the range.
But for taking treasured memories of babies etc they better than having nothing at all to watch over and over again  !.

And before you say anything yes i do have one myself so i am qualified to speak about them.

If i was an admin on here i would have had you and you IP address banned from future postings.

Rant Over.:x

i bought this item looks good nice and compack picture seemed good in daylight but when it went slightly darker pictur went awful lines came on the screen when videoing changed all settings made no difference took stills in the screen tooked ok but when u reviewed it back it was blured light on the front made no difference AWFUL MACHINE DONT BUY ITS BAD

You must of got a 'bad un' as I have bought a second hand one from one of the members here on this site and I'm well impressed. Good in low light and the quality is very good . I have 2 proper camcorders , a Panasonic and a Sharp ,both miniDV but not HD ,but got the Traveler for it's portability . Plays back on the laptop , plasma with good clarity . Take yours back for an exchange .

I have a Kodak ZI6 Pocket Camera, But noticed my Local has two left of the Traveler HD Camcorder..................................Do i keep the ZI6 or get this? Which is better?

What utter tosh, Aldi sell very good quality products at affordable prices, I have 2 Medion Computers from Aldi, one is 7+ years old, one is 3+ years old, never any problem with either of them.

Do Sony or Panasonic give a 3 year warranty?

Pity you cannot try it out first at the store .You'll be well impressed . I've just had mine at work today to test and put the footage on DVD using Sony Vegas 9 .There mpeg4 files , so you have to convert first before Vegas will touch them . Rather strage though ,theres no sound , must be a codec problem , it normally is . Does'nt really matter as I've added background music . Will see what it looks like on the plasma when I get home . The Traveller I believe is the same as a model called Jaz . Theres a few sites about it with demo footage to view . I ordered 2 batterys last night from ebay for it as spares for only £9.50 .No ,complaints so far with the camera though .

"Video light technology"

lol

ive got one (same cam, branded Medion, prob from the same chinese factory with generic branding)
i wanted a small light cam i could bolt to my motorbike and take vids of wanging around the mountains of northern spain last year, and cheap enough to not worry about if it fell off/got pinched/broke etc. i usually used my digital still camera in vid mode but ive been worried what the dust and wind blown moisture is doing to the insides and lens.

it performed well, working when i wanted it to, the battery lasted ok, the quality of filming is fine, the screen is fine (i want to look ahead, not at an ickle screen on my camera), and survived a drowning in torrential rain before i could stop and put it in my pocket. when it dried out it worked fine again, pot luck i guess but if it didnt i would have shrugged it off, if it was an expensive one i wouldve been gutted.

it was a £40 medion in lidl not a sony wondercam megabolox from harrods for £300 that the freindsingtons of kensington can tape baby tarquin's first solid poo with, so i wasnt expecting much but got great VFM i think.
not as good is not good enough for some people, snobs need to get a life and stop equating "cheap" with "rubbish", its simply not true anymore.

Why do people like duplicatedeal waste everyone's time by "reviewing" something they haven't bought, have no intention of buying, can't even read a specification properly and fill up a discussion with biased unfounded criticisms when all people want is to hear of or share genuine user opinion? He / she must be mentally sick.
