Hi, can somebody advise if this is a reliable brand/bike? Many thanks. Price is fair i think.

"Rigid steel frame without suspension for an easier ride" hahaha, yeah right.

Looking at the front forks i doubt i'd want to take that off road anywhere at all.

Will be fine for the road though.

It's as good as anything else for 90 quid. All the better for not having fake suspension or pretending to be a mountain bikes.

Its Halfords bottom of their range bikes, with bottom of the range parts..... similar to supermarket BSO's..... buts its so cheap you cant really expect anything else.
If you can stretch to more money for a Carrera, its worth paying the extra.

Not for off road use tbh. if using back & fro to work/uni etc then fine.

Some cheap hybrids in Argos too:

Hyper Revo 26 Inch Mountain Bike - Men's 99.99 was 199.99

Is a 100 quid really your maximum budget ?

Well, I can spend as much as they cost, but I want to limit to under £100.

There's nothing I would recommend under £100.......

For something cheap and reasonable quality, this looks ok.....

Never heard of it.

a bike that will need replacing in under a year is not a deal. totally uncomfortable too.

Can I have tonight's winning lottery numbers please. I am presuming that you are psychic as you know exactly how much use an unknown buyer will put a bike to.

My sub £100 bike is used maybe a dozen times a year and is still going strong after 8 years, perhaps there was a mistake at the factory and they accidentally over specced it!

Guys,
Think twice before buying a bike not from bicycle store. I bought a Cross Edge (posted during Christmas on HUKD) and regret this.
The spec on paper was ok, but the way the bike was built was ridiculous. Components used were from different group sets. I got 9 speed rear derailleur with 8 speed shifter and 8 speed free wheel. Bottom bracket originally installed was for 2 speed chain wheel (3 speed ob a bike). Shifting gears was impossible.
In all fairness, Argos was great with the customer service and helping to make things right.
In short, if you are up for days of adjusting, changing components on your new bike - get it. If you require a proper after and pre sale service - get it from your local bike shop.

A dozen times a year is nothing. Your definition "going strong" is completely different to most cyclists even absolute beginners like myself. I personally have a Carrera hybrid which was about £250 and it isn't a great bike by any
means but I like it as a beginner. I wouldn't however say that it is going strong since the brakes are basically gone.
In order to build a bike for under £100 never mind sell it must mean that it has poor quality parts or frame which makes it a pain to ride. Cycling is something where brands really do count. Group sets should only be bought ideally from Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo because they are the best ones and their budget group sets are at least okay and well built. In addition there is trickle down of newer technology to them.
If someone wants to cycle regularly (at least once a week) then your budget is probably sub £300. Otherwise it is usually a false economy.
