Thank you for placing your order with Debenhams

This email is to acknowledge that we have received your order and it is currently being processed.

this is where they can get out of it...
"order acceptance and the creation of the contract between you and us will take place at the point the goods you have ordered are despatched from our warehouse to be delivered to the address you have given us"

I don't think they can get out of it with this unless they only charge cards at the point of despatch, contract law says the contract is formed the moment they take payment (in affect they have then accepted your offer). So if they charge your card before they despatch that is when the contract is formed. This is why companies normally put "This does not affect your statutory rights" on the bottom of their junk - they may try to rewrite the law in their favour, but they can't.

even though you my have given your bank details no money will have been taken so no contract has been made.(there not stupid)
sometimes paypal take the money, then you may have an argument that a contract has been made.
