if ne1 wants me to send them some i can for their actual cost plus p&p. I bought 36 pakcs today as hubby's nephew wants to sell them in school. This i find quite commendable he'd go to teh effort as he wants for nothing and is actually quite spoilt as gets just about anything he asks for as parents aint together.

I recently bought him 25 packs of cola bubble gum for 5p a pack and he sold them on a school trip for 20p a pack

dont think theres any of the cola in the branch near me.

Would you mind getting me 20 packs (raspberry and peach please) ?

If they have the strawberry lime ones I´d like 20 of those too (my hubby likes those)

Thanks

Wish there was a Home Bargains store in London

Everything is bloody expensive down here! We could do with more discount stores.

This would be a great bargain but the downside is that it (and many other products in the UK) contains ACESULFAME-K .
Here's just a little info on this additive

ACESULFAME-K AVOID. Unsafe in amounts consumed or is very poorly tested and not worth any risk.
Artificial sweetener: Baked goods, chewing gum, gelatin desserts, diet soda, Sunette.

This artificial sweetener, manufactured by Hoechst, a giant German chemical company, is widely used around the world. It is about 200 times sweeter than sugar. In the United States, for several years acesulfame-K (the K is the chemical symbol for potassium) was permitted only in such foods as sugar-free baked goods, chewing gum, and gelatin desserts. In July 1998, the FDA allowed this chemical to be used in soft drinks, thereby greatly increasing consumer exposure. It is often used together with sucralose (see SUCRALOSE).
Found in: pudding, chewing gum, non-dairy creamers, instant coffee mixes, tea mixes and gelatin desserts. In studies done with animals, Acesulfame K apparently produced lung tumors, breast tumors, and several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease.

The safety tests of acesulfame-K were conducted in the 1970s and were of mediocre quality. Key rat tests were afflicted by disease in the animal colonies; a mouse study was several months too brief and did not expose animals during gestation. Two rat studies suggest that the additive might cause cancer. It was for those reasons that in 1996 the Center for Science in the Public Interest urged the FDA to require better testing before permitting acesulfame-K in soft drinks. In addition, large doses of acetoacetamide, a breakdown product, have been shown to affect the thyroid in rats, rabbits, and dogs. Hopefully, the small amounts in food are not harmful.

Horrible gum

to all those of you saying i wish a home bargains would open near me... if one did it tends to mean your area is thoroughly screwed and your house price would probably be adversly effected, the area would go down hill etc...

That said i think ill walk down to home bargains tomorrow and get myself a box or two... i think these are short date (september if i saw correctly instore)

Hey,

if anyone can get me £2's worth as i dont like near a store,

i'll give you the £2.50 and the p&p fee.

Thanks

Have you guys tried B&M as they have similar stock but im unsure which areas they are in. I know one is in Southport and i think Fleetwood...St Helens, Warington, dont know about other areas.

I should be in Home bargains today so if anyone wants the gum let me know which and how many?

The beauty of the internet. I could also cut and paste a dozen studies that say the opposite.

Also, I heard a glass of coke will dissolve a tooth overnight :w00t: Was on the 'net so it must be true.

thx to the OP. Good for the heads up as they don't stay in long. Odd that they can get so many at this price as it is not as if the flavours are being discontinued.

thanks in advance

It is the strips that are 14 and the splash are all 9 (in all the shop I have seen anyway).

I think I figured out the answer to my own question. The packs I got all expire sept/oct this year. Still well in date (not that it would make a difference) but I bet supermarkets etc would not take them - hence they dumped the old stock.
