Whats the difference between 5w40 and 5w30? My cars manual says i should use 5w30, but when i put in my number plate onto the site, it also shows this oil at 5w40 ?

The difference is the viscosity when hot. 40 will be thicker than 30 when up to temperature, but both should be the same viscosity when cold.
If in doubt, stick to your car manufacturer's recommendation.

I was going to say!
this is fully synthetic, only difference between 5w 30 and 5w 40 is thinner, although 40 better at higher temperatures. as long as it meets Api or ACEA specs of your engine (see owners manual) is will be fine.

difference between fully synthetic and semi is fully more suitable for long service intervals, if your change oil often won't make a difference.

Don't take risks with oil: the most important maintenance item in your car and frequent changes with the correct oil can extend engine life considerably. Wrong oil can be a very false economy.

Nowt wrong with this oil. Used it in several non 'banger' cars without issues. It met or exceeded the spec set by the manufacturers on my previous cars, and that's all that matters, along with regular oil service intervals.

I've also used various other oil makes, and I currently have Triple QX, Shell Helix Ultra, and Castrol in the garage. Have I noticed a difference between any of those? Short of fancier packaging, absolutely not.

According to the MoT reports on the cars I've serviced there very much is a difference between oil brands, and this isn't the best. But OTOH it probably won't kill your engine provided it complies with the manufacturer's specs.
OP, do you drive a 2010 Hyundai i10 1.2?

Good deal by the way, voted hot
Worst oil I have ever used in my 98 Honda. Made the engine very noisy indeed. Switched back to Mobil at the last service and the difference is apparent.

I have a 3000 mile oil change interval on my car (Honda recommended in the book) so have made a lot of changes in the last 5 odd years, and no other oil has performed this badly.

Imo, avoid.
Terrible oil , seemed ok at first , but then only 1000 miles later my engine was very noisy, checked oil it was black and like water , never again ,
Selling at £10 for 5ltrs, and I am sure they still make a profit !!!!

Most dreadful oil I have used seen in over 30 years of servicing cars !!

AVOID is my advice !!
Cheers - got the 10w40 version for £10.99 with free delivery.

MoT reports ?

Care to explain ?

Ordered, seems a very good price!
I've said this before on these kind of posts but this oil is just like any other oil...

Triple QX is just a brand name used by one of the small, second tier oil blenders that exist in the UK (eg Morris, Tetrosyl, Millers, etc). These good people blend & can oil but don't do the techie stuff behind the oil. This will almost certainly have been done by one of the four big US additive companies who supply the DI & VII additives, the blend recipe & tech support stuff to the QX blender. The additives will be blended with Group III base oil sourced from the market (eg Yubase, Nexbase, etc). If you follow the correct blend procedures, then you end up with a 5W40 oil that meets all the requisite oil specs.

These people don't employ hordes of expensive R&D and Marketing people, have fancy offices or multi-million pound advertising budgets. As such, they can often offer oils at lower prices than the big boys want to sell at. This stuff may look cheap but it is far from nasty.

Hope this helps...

MoT reports ?Care to explain ?

There are lots of ways to assess oil but realistically the easiest and perhaps cheapest one available to vehicle owners is to look at the emissions part of the MoT report. A good, quality oil will keep the engine clean as well as (subject to viscosity) allowing for efficient running of the engine. The problem with cheaper oils is that they tend not to do so well on either of those fronts.

Cant see why oil would effect emissions in any way
It should not be in upper cylinder area its lubricant and plays no part in combustion
Yes in long term poor quality engine oil more engine wear
but emissions test cant tell if u have mobil 1 or tesco value oil
