For some strange reason I never feel relaxed in a shower that's connected to the National Grid.

That should be the least of your worries, think of all that re-cycled waste water your drinking and washing in!

55derek, I have Solar panels but still have to connect to the grid. This connects to thecoldtap so without the el ectrickery the water will come out cold, BRRRRRRR!
8.5kw will be just a trickle with the incoming water temperature at this time of year. Go for 10.5 kw if you have the wiring for one of doing a new installation.
Only 3 ltr/minute?

I have a Triton Madrid 2, installed temporarily, that does 8 ltr/min and that's just "OK".

No idea where you got the figures from, but the Triton Enrich 8.5Kw and the Triton Madrid II 8.5Kw are one and the same shower internally as are others in the range, the name often depends on where you buy it!

I started off with a Triton Caselona II which was already installed about 21 years back and have had about 3 replacements with different names over the years all fit identically (and quickly) and perform identically!
I agree with others saying go for 10kw. Yes 8.5kw is bit low.
Beauty of Triton showers is they are almost always a straight swap on the plumbing

It's in the description above.

I thought they looked the same apart from the swirl design

The 8L/min is only on Argos and B&Q sites, and seems to be incorrect, probably someone inputting it has misread a 3 for an 8
