Got a loft conversion room that, and find these very useful fitting close to the roofline, to maximise the accessible storage space
I ended up buying two of the stepped versions, and have one behind the other, as you can slide a drawer all the way through one into the one behind (best for stuff you don't need to access too often)
Or alternatively this from B&M for £15? (provide your own boxes)...

For those people that equate B&M with cheap tat, I bought a £7.99 'floating' (bracket-less) shelf from there at the weekend. I was quite impressed at how well it was put together, it looks okay & I have garnered several brownie points from wifey!

I can see how that would work for some but the Ikea unit has runners for the boxes and in our experience with the one we got for our young granddaughter it's the difference between getting at her stuff easily and struggling. But nice to have an alternative choice.

Yes, with any Ikea deal you have to accept you must go and pick it up. We bought this (in pink!) for our granddaughter and it really is brilliant. And, yes, we paid more.

Heat added.

I was going to buy one in my local B&M but they had one built and it looks really shoddy. Problem with these is they have no structural integrity of their own and so if made from cheap, thin wood they won't last long.

Not seen the IKEA one but they're normally more solid.
I bought one of these 15 years and 3 children ago and it’s still going strong.
The cheaper versions really don’t come close in terms of build quality and sturdiness(that’s a word, right?).

You don't need to modify - just line them up. You have a little wriggle room so it doesn't need to be perfect but probably wouldn't want to do more than a couple back to back

I used the rectangular Trofast sets (that are not on any offer at the mo) to build a Lego table and the kids love it!

We’ve had trofast, stuva & kallax storage in our 8 year old’s bedroom for the last 2-3 years. The trofast is a little sturdier than the kallax & despite him being heavy handed, it’s still going strong. He’s got the steps. We’ve put grip tape & a load of teddies on the top of the steps as he was a bit of a climber & they’re super slippy. Luckily he’s grown out of climbing!! Would highly recommend them
Knowing me it will end up in the bin or will gather stuff I never use.
The plastic containers are very thin and flex easily. The wooden units are decent though.
These are great kids toy storage things, have 2 stepped and one slim straight, would buy again certainly.
Are they modular? Need the one column drawer on the other side!

They have pre-drilled holes for this arrangement but easy enough to put the other side. Will require a drill and some wood filler for the outside edge of the 2 box tower

You'd be surprised at how much more storage you get for that slightly bigger unit.
I was looking at 4x2 units from argos and a few other places and from smallest to largest internal dimensions, the space inside was almost doubled.

Moral: A few extra inches go a long way!

i bought a desk from B&M at Christmas, the screws for the rails on drawers split the wood

There are 2 versions of Trofast @ IKEA - the wooden one is slightly more compact (by 3CM - I guess it also more expensive) as it doesn't have the plastic runners - instead the runners are routed out of the SOLID wood (rare for an IKEA product!) Personally I'd rather have the wooden one as there is less to break (the tubs give way long before the runners and you can always buy another tub!)

I don't know if you are trolling or not, but you can simply rotate it and have the single cube on either the left or right hand side... (the front & back of the unit look the same)

Well i guess it's like most of this type of furniture - it's glue held together by sawdust & fibres covered with plastic...

My kids enjoyed using them as a climbing frame and as a seat too! A few of the tubs have been replaced as the lips cracked, other than that there are still in use...
Fugly prefer the Kallax range

Yeah we picked one up super cheap from FB marketplace if you don't mind giving it a clean and aren't bothered which colours the boxes are. Great for ridding the floor of toys but kids can still get access quite easily.
Anyone know when the offers ends???
Thanks in advance
Can you mirror these and sit one on top of the other to create a square and the finish is the same (IE, no MDF showing on the back?)

Yes they are modular i.e you can spin them round no problem.

Not actually a stupid/troll question as somethings look like they are reversible but when you build them you realise that they are not i.e missing kick boards at the back or runners only fit in one direction and are closed at the back etc.

The draw runners would not be correctly positioned in the upside down unit. You would have gaps/wasted storage at the "top" of the upside down one. Also wouldn't be very stable, too tall for such a thin base and you would need to fix them together. I wouldnt recommend it, try going for an appropriately sized Kallax instead they are cheaper and look a bit better anyway.
