Tronic chargers are useless.. If your batteries are too low in power they never charge. You end up sticking them in another charger to kick start them before you can put them in your Tronic.

Their Tronic batteries on the other hand are so so..

The charger they are using is a generic with a really lousy reputation for overheating &"damaging" your batteries. AVOID.
If you have invested in rechargeables, invest in a xtar charger.

Many thanks Mr_Gus
This is the other thing I like about HUKDEALS, a handy heads-up of the negative side (I'm certain OP didn't know about) regarding the deal...the 1st being the deals that turn out to be just that... hot hot HOT UK deals.
Yes, it can be a spikey hive mind sometimes, however many deals have come through & constiuent components are known to some commenters, so its wise (imho) to refresh that info rather than assume everyone already knows.

*I like batteries me* ..serious about the Xtar units very very worthwhile buying as the only time a battery gets vaguely warm is typically if you are charging it too fast,or there is a problem with the battery.
With very few exceptions cheap battery chargers that come with batteries are an expensive gimmick & makes you wonder what the heck the battery company is playing at.

if you need a 4 AA / AAA charger that exudes confidence when being used.... these are good examples (I run 3 xtar chargers)

fast 2 cell charger amazon.co.uk/dp/…YGV
My daughter has this running through her xbox one usb port meaning I don't find 16 "spent" AA cells lying on her bed ...(tsk)

fast 4 cell charger amazon.co.uk/XTA…8-2

On the VC4 the two OUTER (L/R charge faster than when you load 4 batteries or just the middle ones...
Point to remember these charge efficiently, & quickly, compared to the unit that's listed in original post, which when I tested the useless thing was running hot & stating that it was still charging several days in.... misleading & battery killing.

Will recommend the xtar units till the cows come home.

Good information, also the Xtar charges more types of batteries 18650 and others, another good reason to avoid this Lidl one.
The xtar chargers listed will happily accept Ni-MH, Li-on, & also Ni-Cad (it just doesn't say ni-cad on the box, site etc, I think possibly because it may be perceived as older tech instead of more multi-modal.

I charge some old ni-cads on mine no problem, it displays the nimh light though (as there isn't a ni-cad light).

(This is something I took up with the uk xtar distributor a few years back, not just tried out).

Is it worth getting one with a discharge function? Such as the VC4S. Would it be beneficial otherwise to opt for the VC4S over the VC4? amazon.co.uk/XTA…c=1

I am wanting a new charger. Mainly for AAA and AA batteries.

Thanks for your help.

PS Or even the X4: amazon.co.uk/XTA…8-7

Bearing in mind the vc4s is new product I have no idea, I do have the VC4 which has now dropped by around £8.00 ..its a great unit. discharge is rarely used, I do have it on one of my units... but on the whole its for more precise measuring that a lot of folk don't do... entirely up to you based on what you intend o use it for & how balanced you need your batteries if making packs etc.

Thanks for the reply.

I have used discharge on an old 7dayshop charger. Unsure of the level of benefit in doing so. An Energizer 15 minute battery charger was boiling the chemicals in ikea rechargeable batteries I used. I could hear it. A shame reviews are lacking for the VC4S and X4. I have grabbed the £8 voucher on Amazon for the X4. which makes it £32. It could just be worth getting the VC4. Maybe the X4 & VC4S charges too quickly? I shall have a thorough read through the descriptions again.

Ah, there's better than amazon for reviews, people use these for vaping (not me) so plenty of material on Xtar if you google it.
neither of those will superheat your batteries, also the more you load the lower the ampage, & the two outers run faster than the 2 inner charging bays.

Also I can choose various speeds of charge on my dragon (for instance)
regardless of the discharge, you will get sme good info as to general condition within a few charges especially if running pairs, you'll see the energy capacitance absorbtion & as to whether they are working or need weeding out.

I just use UK & USA Amzon reviews for a quick idea as to what people think. Often people haven't had items long when submitting Amazon reviews. I then tend to look elsewhere too.

Probably all the 4 bay Xtar charges will do. It depends if I opt for a quicker charge. They aren't expensive items. Especially if they ladt a few years. Basic want is to charge AA & AAA batteries well without damaging them; safely and in a reasonable time but being a reliable and long lasting item. Sounds what we want for all purchased goods!

Ah, there's better than amazon for reviews,

Taken a gamble and gone for an Xtar X4 Amazon Warehouse deal for something like £26. If it is a wreck it can go back. Hopefully just a damaged box or an unwanted return. Didn't get time to research more into them before Prime Day. This makes it a similar price to the VC4S.
