TSA approved luggage locks means security staff can open them with a master key to prevent having to break open the luggage lock if extra screening is required, preventing damage to the lock and possibly the case also.

Available from the 2nd April.

How does that work then - does every airport in the world have the same master key?

I just posted this as I didn't realise you needed TSA locks to travel to America and ended up getting them last minute, we managed to get from a supermarket but they were a lot more than this for 1 lock, and at the airport shops they are very expensive.

True, sorry you obviously don't need to lock your luggage at all if you don't want to, or you can use cable zip ties as a cheap alternative, although I think most people would prefer to have some sort of lock on their case.

The padlock can be pretty pointless with a zipped bag.

Are the padlocks not small enough to go through the zips to lock them together ?
