This is a corker of a deal from TSB if you’ve got a balance to transfer. The 28-month Platinum balance transfer card has got it all:

  • 28 months 0% on balance transfers (transfers must be made within 90 days of account opening)
  • 3 months 0% on purchases
  • 0.5% balance transfer but this is refunded if you complete your balance transfer within 30 days of your account opening. So, in effect it’s zero BT fee. The refund takes up to 60 days.
  • Receive £20 Cashback when you make £20 of eligible purchases with your new card. (Eligible means normal shopping basically. No ATM withdrawals, gambling transactions, currency purchase etc). To be eligible you need to open an account by 10 January 2018 and spend £20 by 9 February – so act quick.
  • 1% cashback on the first £500 of eligible spend each month if you have a TSB Classic Plus current account. This equates to a maximum cashback of £5 a month. The offer ends on 30 June 2018 so there’s a potential £60 up for grabs.

Why I like this credit card
A decent 0% deal on balance transfers, a free £20 and a potential £5/month cashback on spending until June. What’s not to like?

The only thing to remember is that purchases are 0% for only three months so if you’re spending on the card to get the cashback you need to pay your bill in full each month. It’s also worth noting you need a TSB current account to get the 1% cashback on spending until June 2018.

From their T&Cs ..

You can earn £5 cashback every month just for having two direct debits per month. Plus another £5 cashback every month if you spend with your debit card at least 20 times a month.

For accounts opened on or after 1 March 2017 only. Cashback offer ends 30 June 2018. You must be registered for internet banking. T&Cs apply.

Not sure where you get £20 a month from?

Still,a better deal than with most banks. Still heat from me.

I think you have to be clever with this one, spend £20 on purchases, pay it off immediately, then do your balance transfer in the next statement window, otherwise that £20 you spend will incur interest after 3 months.

Very good offer but I don't need another BT offer until

I've had a quick look at the terms and its unlikely you'd need to jump through that hoop other than to (literally) save pennies in the worst case (assuming just a £20 spend). The terms indicate that
1. highest interest balances paid off first and
2. at the same interest rate, purchases are paid off before balance transfers (paraphrasing from term 6.1).

Cool. Even better then 😊
Classic plus is better account for long term, with potential for £60 cashback plus £5 a month after June 2018 and earning 3% AER on balanced up to £1,500 (£45pa approx - just under £4.00 month).
This is the account the link took me to when I first clicked it. It doesn't now.

"Classic Plus account
Our most popular account with 3% AER variable interest on balances up to £1,500 and no monthly fee.

No bank gives you more with no monthly fee.

To earn interest (which is paid monthly) just pay in a minimum of £500 a month and register for Internet Banking, Paperless Statements and Paperless Correspondence . It's important that you log in regularly, at least once every 12 months.

You can earn £5 cashback every month just for having two direct debits per month. Plus another £5 cashback every month if you spend with your debit card at least 20 times a month."'

It says new TSB credit card customers. I assume that means you could have other products with TSB already.

I think you're confusing the credit card offer with the current account offer. The credit card offers £20 cashback plus limited monthly cashback on spend. The current account deal pays you £5 for using direct debits and your debit card sufficiently. They are two different deals - you could cash in by doing them both.
Can anyone who has applied for this answer whether or not the estimated limit they give you, when you have sent off the application, is accurate?

Yes, it was same for me and confirmed when I received the paperwork - limit was the same and a bit lower than I normally receive when applying for a cc which was a little disappointing.

Still, I did some xmas shopping at asda (over £20) and paid that off as soon as it hit the statement to receive the £20 cashback incentive. I've since done a balance transfer for all my xmas shopping with two other cards and will pay that off within the 28 month term. This is a fabulous deal as if TSB pay out the £20 and refund the balance transfer fee, I'll effectively be paid. Happy days!
