Holidays That Put You in the Driving Seat

Fly drives do exactly what they say on the tin – you get a flight over the pond and a set of wheels thrown in. So, if you fancy exploring on your own, you can mix up motels and hotels each night and do something different every day. You could be shaking hands with Mickey one morning and roller-blading along Miami’s sidewalks the next. You see, fly drives give you the total freedom to do things your way, at your own pace. Perfect if you don’t want to be based in just one place. And what’s so good about a TUI Fly Drive is that we give you unlimited mileage so you can really hit the open road. Plus, you won’t get stung by any of those nasty ‘out-of-state’ driving charges. In true road-trip style, you can Thelma and Louise your way across the States.

What Happens on a Fly Drive?

We’ll fly you out to Florida where you’ll be met by a TUI Advisor. They’ll point you in the direction of the car hire people and set you on your way. After that, it’s totally up to you. Theme parks. Everglades. Shopping malls. It’s all there for the taking. At the end of your stay, you just need to head back to the airport, hand over your keys and check-in for your flight home. It’s that easy.

In order to hire the car, you have to take out the rental insurance that can be pre-booked or paid for locally. Remember, each driver needs to present a valid driving licence and a credit card in the driver’s name which serves as a security deposit.

Anyone been on one of these? Recommend it?
Flew with TUI last week to Florida and they were great. Better than Virgin who I have flown with many times. We were not fly drive, but have done it many times in the past. Watch out for the add on car insurances they try to sell you and buy a Damage Excess policy in the UK for a lot less than at the counter.

Also be aware the theme park tickets, 2 days in Disney and 2 days in Universal cost more than the £380 each we paid for flight, baggage, transfer and 4 star hotel
Total is £634

Hell yeah, much prefer flying with Thomson than virgin, driving in the states is easy just be careful of car insurance add-ons when you get there, they’ll tell you you need everything when in fact you don’t, they get commission, they will even try to stick on add ins when you have said No.
I think it would be cheaper to book your own car and get excess insurance before you go than pay the extortionate insurance charge with the TUI car. Great price tho, few days in the parks, few in Clearwater then Miami and down to the keys
