forgot to mention Maidenhead store not sure if it's national

Can you tell us which store please as it may not be national and whether the bank holiday 15% discount is included in the price shown.

The extra details will help prevent folks voting cold for the hell of it.

Thanks.

Ok so you beat me to it, but thanks, bit far for me but may help some. Was there plenty left at the time you went ? (you may wish to say the time you went too).

There's no harm in asking while the OP is about and responding to questions. It could actually assist others who may want the information and who may ask when the OP is not about to reply.

In my opinion this is no better than somebody posting a deal for a reduced chicken they found from the rotisserie at Tesco. It's turf that that particular store has reduced because it's either not looking too healthy anymore and they need it gone, or they have a delivery of fresh turf due in over night and again, they need it gone.

I didn't mean to come across as horrible and if I have done so, original poster I am sorry, but I had actually voted hot as I thought it was a good deal and was trying to prevent some of the common negativity others post due to lack of information. I obviously failled in my attempt to help in your book (xratedemofrog).

This is a good price - but just a word of caution: Check when the turf was delivered to the store. You might find that this is a few days old and half dead. (B&Q reduce their turf too after its a few days old after delivery to the store). I had a similarly good price from Homebase last year....Grass was nice and green on the top but a few days after laying I realised the roots were dead. I went back and they replaced it. So keep the receipt and keep an eye on it after laying.
Hopefully, though, you've got some nice fresh stuff!

Also have it at Robroyston store in Glasgow says £2 then you should get the 15% off. It was a little yellow looking but they had a few rolls about a 20 or so.

This won't be national as such, they always reduce the old stuff before the new delivery and regularly to £1, I turfed our whole garden with £1 rolls 2 years ago then a bit more last year again just using £1 rolls, it looks a bit dry when you get it but it is fine. never pay more than £1 per roll. B and q then same.

Homebase get turf deliveries on a thursday with fresh turf. Always gets reduced to half price on a monday as its getting past its best. Used to work in the warehouse and pricing department there.

Was £2 per roll on a pallet outside the Ayr store but it looked almost dead - hence the price

I would say this is national. I picked up 4 rolls earlier at this price from Bedworth store.

It's maybe not the best around but for less that £2 it's fine. Our 4 rolls look perfect and I didn't exactly sift though the pile!!

Loads of rolls available.

Where was the reduced chicken?

I picked up some for £1 a roll at B&Q today. I think most places reduce the price after the weekend as it starts to yellow.

we got some at b&q in Layton in Blackpool yesterday for £2 a roll, manager says they don't reduce it further than that - it just gets skipped :-/

oh, and this was starting to go brown, not just yellow

Most DiY places reduce it on the 5th day, regardless of how much is left. Sometimes you get lucky if its not been too hot and get as good as new stuff. Even if its going yellow it will bounce back quickly with a good soaking twice a day for a few days.

gonna check this one out:D
