As mentioned above, please let me know why I should buy or not buy this! Cold voters please explain why/offer suggestions of an alternative!!!

What an awful, AWFUL deal!!!

The processor used is several years old, really intel chips are owning atm, in fact there was a good deal earlier today for a lappy with an i3 chip.

Also, this comes with Vista installed......... err I imagine this is very old stock that has been lying in a warehouse for a year or 2. Obciously a new laptop now will have win7 installed on it.

ffs learn how to do a bit of research for yourself..... google "initiative" perhaps??

A friend bought this & is very happy with it.. Win 7 upgrade is taking a couple of weeks to go through though.

Spec is pretty good for the price, though the Turion is a bit of a weak link.. and I think this model was £20 cheaper a week or two ago (was £449)

Not bad at all, but worth comparing against the Studio15's on the Dell site as they're pretty keenly priced at moment with I3 processors.

Some good stuff in the Outlet if you keep looking too - I picked up a good spec Studio XPS 1340 at c 2/3 normal retail couple of days ago

Cheers & good luck whatever you choose

Very poor cpu for this price - for £399 you can get a new Dell Inspiron 1546 with Core i3 cpu:

..though that model has integrated graphics, which are not great.. for £499 you can get the model with the Radeon 4570. Depends if you want to do any light gaming or not really which way to go.

On the HP, its not the poorest for the money for the price, though as noted processor is poor, but if you can stretch your budget a little further there's far better deals out there.

..and a final note on the HP, these are pretty heavy for the size, so if you're after something you can comfortably lug around I'd look elsewhere anyway.

What is a lappie?

What is a lappie?

Isn't this lappy almost identical to the Compaq 615 that was at eBuyer @ £349? (Nb HP owns Compaq and they are identical apart from the branding)
