You may not have heard of this lot but they're easily one of the most interesting bands of recent years and this is a cracking price for a great album, It's 1p cheaper at amazon.co.uk but then you'd miss the Quidco. Have a quick listen To Holmgard And Beyond or Battle Metal at their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/turisasofficial).

The Director's Cut includes the following extra features

Bonus Tracks
# Rasputin
# To Holmgard And Beyond (Single Edit)

DVD
# Rasputin (video clip)
# To Holmgard and Beyond (Karaoke version)
# Battle Metal (live video from Rock Hard Festival 2007)
# To Holmgard and Beyond (live video from Download 2007)
# In the Court of Jarisleif (live video from Download 2007)
# Rasputin (live video from Download 2007)
# Battle Metal (live video from Download 2007)
# Battle Metal (live video from With Full Force 2007)

Saw them supporting LORDI. Was one of the best and most entertaining nights out in ages.

Tha rasputin cover is a peach!

Cool band, the Battle Metal genre is totally underrated, even by the Metal fraternity.
Turisas' first album is good too- I got that in an HMV sale exactly 1 year ago. This 'Varangian' album was £4.99 but that was for the basic disc, not director's cut.

Heat added for the Brotherhood of the Brave!

I just listened to 30 seconds of To Holmgard and Beyond on myspace, I'm afraid that's as much as I could take. The vocals seemed to be sung by the lead singer from Right Said Fred and the synth driven artificial orchestral backing track made me feel sick.

What is the matter with kids these days? Why don't you listen to proper Heavy Metal? Motorhead, AC/DC, early Iron Maiden etc. If you must have synths listen to Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Mordred or Faith No More.

Ah bring back the old days when young men such as myself would freely stage dive to the likes of Bolt Thrower, Carcass and Obituary down at the old Marquee club.

Synths? Bzzzzt! Try again. They have two violin players in the band.

You sound like you're restricting yourself some what sticking to all the old bands. I listen to everyone from Sabbath onwards. There are some awesome bands around today.

I prefer Tyr to Turisas, personally, but still.

Have they got a trumpet player as well then?

Nope, an accordinist though. Think it's only one fiddle player but he's pretty awesome, his live solos are something else.

Great band. One violin, one accordian. Awesome live.
