There are not many flights released yet for December so not many options at the moment on flights.
You can go on the 1st December from Stansted for 7 nights (via pegasus airways good flight times) and stay a Fantasia Deluxe all inclusive 5* and will work out to £556 total (£278 each) so not a bad price at all, but will be very expensive over xmas for sure.

I wouldn't risk it - I am ex-forces and spent 10 years conducting security analysis/risk management for the Government.

I had a long weekend planned for my family in Istanbul in June but, just my opinion, with the sheer amount of alternative holiday locations it's not worth the risk of heading to Turkey. *shrug*

But you pays your money and you takes your chances.

You could say similar about France and Belgium, yet we have few qualms about going to either.

make sure to do jeep safari. its the best
Only back from AI in Marmaris had a great time. Turks are always friendly but they're going above and beyond at minute.
Can't understand why people are so quick to say wouldn't go to Turkey yet Marmaris is 2 plane rides away from where the majority of fighting is. Only my opinion but at the minute virtually nowhere is safe bar a deserted island in the Indian Ocean and good luck with booking one of them AI for a week.

maybe your definition of 'safe' is different to the english definition of 'safe' :-)

joking aside, each person has their own idea of what is 'worth risking' for a cheaper holiday, and personally, I wouldn't be bothered about Turkey at the minute.
And Belfast is a lovely place. I worked there for a large part of 2009, digging it near the Asda in Andersontown. Hardly had any bother, aside from the wing mirrors getting kicked off the van a couple of times.

If you can't see why people are dubious of Turkey at the minute, then you really need to take your head out of the sand. Turkey shares a land border with Syria, and is playing a bit of a game regarding the various fighting factions. If you disagree with the people who don't want to go, that's fair enough, but to say you can't see why they would say that is just plain dumb.
no thanks i value my life
good find op, heat added

It's plain dumb not to look at a map and use the wit you were born with to see how big Turkey is and how far the resorts like Marmaris are from the land border with Syria .
I will not go to Turkey even if you pay me. Not a wish but it is just a matter of time before some evil one hit a supposed safe area. Your life is surely not worth 1 week of pleasure

I'm only back and weather was lush. Hit 30c one day rest of week sat between 23-27c.

Typical namby pamby attitude trying to scaremonger and let the terrorists win !! Hot deal OP, thanks for sharing.
Cheap cause no one wants to go.
Terrorists are looking for British people to kidnap.]
Avoid Turkey like the plague this year.
It is an Islamic country with Islamic laws.
And its human rights record is awful.

When you go there, spend your money there, you are helping a corrupt regime that supports terror and murder.

from gov.uk
"Terrorist groups, including Daesh and the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), have publicly threatened to attack tourist sites in Turkey."
US advice
"Foreign and U.S. tourists have been explicitly targeted by international and indigenous terrorist organizations."

Also the Israeli Counter-Terrorism Bureau raised its travel advisory for Turkey to "level 2," one level away from its highest warning, citing a "high concrete threat." The advisory advises Israeli citizens currently in Turkey to "depart as soon as possible."

It should not stop you going but at least research and assess the risks.

My Grandfather remembers when the Brits were a nation of brave men and women. He now shudders at the cowardly way some people act
Stay away from the capital and the Syrian border and you will be fine. Because everyone is scared there are some excellent deals to be had as long you are sensible where you go and Turkey is a beautiful place.

Give it a bloody rest mate. Been to Turkey early in the year and had an awesome time (a group of 10 including children). Going back again in August then to Dubai for 14 nights.
