Used to have a pair of these myself, you do have to plug them into the DS4 for chat capability but the sound quality is excellent and they are otherwise completely wireless on PS4. I paid around £150 for mine when I had them. Excellent deal if you're in the market for some PS4 headphones

Grrr bought a pair of refurbished ones a few weeks ago for £40 and though that was a good deal. Very good price, voted hot.
Nice one Thanks for posting.
Brilliant price for this headset. I use it for my Xbox One and PS4 (on the rare occasion that I use either of them these days) and it works perfectly.
How do they compare to the Sony PlayStation 4 Wireless ones?
I find the sound is much better, but you have the added inconvenience of the decoder thing.

Do you have to plug the Sony ones into the controller? I fail to see how they can call this a wireless headset when you need it to be wired haha.
This is the best headset you can get for the price range. Better sound and build quality than the Sony Golds. Only issue is needing a wire for mic chat.

The wire is what puts me off. Not a wireless headset is it.
I have the X-Ray version of these and I love them, I even prefer them over my astro A40s. They work fully wireless with PS3 (if anyone still plays those), and PC with standard BT. I have found though that the second BT channel that connects to your phone is crap, voices are muffled and just ins't worth the time (this may have been improved on this model).

If you want to be able to go fully wireless consider buying uk.creative.com/p/s…ver, this dongle pairs directly to the headset bypassing ps4 internal BT, I cannot confirm myself that this works, but according to the marketing material it "should", I've been meaning to buy one for a while, but the cable doesn't bother me too much so I'd rather use the money elsewhere.

It's wireless to the console but wired to the pad.

It was wireless on the PS3 (it is a PS3 headset after all) because it just used Bluetooth. Technically it could be wireless on the PS4 as well but Sony won't add it to the PS4's Bluetooth whitelist because they're ****.

It's actually the wire that led to me selling mine and going full wireless. Great headset if you don't mind it though. For this money, they're a great deal
Great headset however if you can find a Sony Wireless 2.0 headset for around the same price or £10 more get that as it's much better imo.
Does anyone know How good the sound quality is when connecting to the PC via BT? Can you also run an optical cable in to the second port? Was a little hard to see from the diagram on Amazon.

I've been on the lookout for a headset to use with the PS4 and gaming pc. Had been thinking of getting the hyperx cloud wired headset, as recommended on the wirecutter, but just saw this, and am tempted. Not too worried about the wire to the pad, but trying to figure out how they compare sound wise.

Thanks

Do you just use the cable from the headset to controller or is the receiver usable as well?

One of the main reason's I sold this. Was that you could not use bluetooth for game audio on PC. Only for voice chat. Here is how you set it up for PC.

I highly recommend the Sony 2.0 Wireless headset. Working for PC out of the box by simply plugging in the wireless USB dongle into the PC.

The receiver is WiFi. The controller to the headset is cabled. Wirelessly you get surround game audio but no voice chat.

The second optical port is an output for daisy-chaining

I bought these in 2014 for £87. I think they're great for gaming and watching action films late at night

If you don't want to do voice chat then they are completely wireless so don't let needing a cable to connect to pad to do voice chat put you off.

Thanks a lot, my stealth 400 just died so this is a great replacement! Cheers :P

I know, I checked the other day and expired it as a result. Have seen that somebody got a PlayStation Wireless Headset for £50 from GAME on here though. Well worth looking into that if you're in the market for a wireless headset!
