This is a nice little S912 box, have one myself.

Scrap the crap that comes on it and flash this AndroidTV ROM. Makes it even better. Also has LibreElec support which runs nicely. Has all the Netflix/Google DRM keys for 4k Netflix etc

It was a pita to flash at first, I think this may not have a reset button (might be thinking of my other box though) but theres a way to get it to restart into recovery/bootloader from within Android I think (adb restart bootloader?)

Flash the first part of the ROM using the burn tool then flash the update in recovery to update to the latest version.

SO much better on the AndroidTV ROM, havnt tried the 'normal Android' ROM but its by the same dude.

The remote is a bog standard one that comes with many Android boxes and nothing to write home about.

It does get pretty hot under load mind but theres several hardware mods to add fans and heatsinks if you look around.

I think theres also two more USB ports on the board if you cut the case but I havnt tried.

Was happy with this one when i got it, will be a better box with some cooling mind but mine doesnt get that much traffic to warrant it.

How do we watch live Tv on these boxes.
Sorry if this has been asked befor

Is it worth upgrading from my 2g/16g Nexbox A95x?

You don't. You may be able to stream 'live' TV, but, it will have no aerial input.
There again, something like mobdro or is it modbro is available a thousands of TV channels are available to stream live.

I would say it's worth This box really fast

I have this box. Excellent. Don't forget a mini keyboard

Does this have to be upgraded, or is it already nougat. Just that I saw the upgrade link.

Is this better then beelink gt1?

Had issues with mine using the original power adapter. Only seem to get it to stay on using a variable adapter that feeds 7.5v.

Other than that, been great out the box. Might try Android TV as mentioned above and see what that is saying!

Please could you confirm this indeed has Widevine L1 DRM and HDCP 1.x, essentials for getting Netflix in HD or 4k? I'm aware of only a few Chinese boxes with these specs, e.g. some of the Mecool boxes, Xiaomi box etc.

Can these boot straight to Kodi?

Would you be able to download the BT Sport app on this. Does the Play Store treat this device as a phone or tablet?

The box will stream video through apps.
Kodi has the ability to stream from various sites. These boxes often come pre-installed with links in Kodi. If it doesn't you'll find instructions on YouTube or Google.

The other method is viewing through a internet browser at catchup sites - Examples:
BBC iplayer,
bbc.co.uk/ipl…yer

4OD catchup:
channel4.com/pro…hup

or use the dedicated apps (available at Google Play or the main website).
Most of the TV here is not live though, some allow live playback.

If you're like me and got the BT sport with your EE phone, then I was led to believe that it needs a EE sim to function.

I only need a box to run Showbox/MovieHD/Terrarium/Mobdro, am I right to say that this box would be way more than I need? Is there a cheaper alternative which would still run capably?

If you don't run LibreELEC you could use software to keep Kodi running/start at bootup.

Does this box turn on when there is power or is there a power button that need to be pressed?

Powers on on inital power connection then can turn on/off with the remote. Theres no physical power button on the box.

Ill have to pull it out and take a look mate, I have several boxes all doing different things so can get muddled sometimes with what does what (I might be thinking of my MeCool or MiBox). I have this one on LibreElec so will have to take a gander later on.

Cant say for the stock Firmware but the AndroidTVROM will treat it as a TV. Apps are sparce for it but you can still sideload.

Plenty of alternatives for running just apps mate, but this is a decent S912 chip with 3GB/32GB if your into that kind of thing.

For just apps a bog standard £20ish 2Gb/8Gb should do you. This has the benefits of root, recovery and custom ROMS as well as supported by LibreElec with a bit of oomph under the hood.

Support page for this box on FreakTab >

freaktab.com/for…pro

Might help you solve any firmware upgrade issues. Most of these Chinese boxes do not come firmware upgrade support. So I tend to look for custom firmware support from the ROM community on FreakTab.

Why void your warranty

Why void your warranty

What warranty do you speak of? And I believe it's easy to revert back to the stock ROM.

Good luck with trying to get a warranty replacement from Banggood. Cost you the price of another box for postage and another six weeks of fighting for it.

If you dont want to void it, dont. For those that do, do.

Mine had problems with not powering up, but the blue light flashing. Then it worked for a while. Today it wont show any signs of life. I suspect the power adapter. What rating are you using, 7.5v and what amps?

Don't laugh me off please ... what tv do I need to run an android tv box ? just hdmi input is enough ?

Can this be USB powered?

For live TV, you should subscribe to an IPTV service. Many out there, with varying quality and reliability and as many would say, questionable legality

Is there a lot of 4K content as such? last i checked a while back it was very limited!

Yes.

I have looked at the H96 Pro Plus deals posted before and many people are having problems with the power supply (not enough power) and overheating problems due to poor heatsink and ventilation holes so I think the Mecool M8S PRO is a better buy.

What do you intend to use with it? If LibreELEC/Kodi then no, s905x is preferable to s912 so it would be pointless replacing your current box. If running android apps then it may well be worth a change.

Probably give slicker experience. This gets about 43k on antutu benchmark test.
It's still way off Nvidia shield territory ( 180k?).

Standard s905x boxes with 2gb ram get about 30k.
The boxes I've seen with 3gb ram seem to be less laggy.

I've got a m8s pro (not opened it yet). It's nowhere near as powerful as this box.
I've never read up on the H96 issues. Just saying that they're different beasts.

Both uses Amlogic S912 but the H96 is clocked at 2GHz whereas the M8S Pro is 1.5GHz.

Also, if you check the H96 reviews on Banggood, people are mentioning the same thing about power issues.

I know would sound silly (and lazy)... Can latest( and older) movies being played legally? Any link would help.

Any playstore app supporting legal Movie access will work. More options with with Movie playback using custom firmware.
