TV OFF - Keychain Remote Control (Switch off most TV's!) is £3.99 delivered @ Play.com

Description : Simply point it at the TV you wish to control, press a button and hold for a few seconds. Hey Presto, you have just gained control of that telly! It can even be used on commercial plasma screens, projector screens at the pub and virtually anything with an Infra Red port. Drive your friends and foes mad by changing channels - make them think their telly's broken by muting it! The fun is endless! Imagine you're at the pub, a penalty is about to be taken...you press the button...the TV switches off. On a more serious note it is perfect if you can't find the remote at home because you can always find your keys (well, almost!). Please note: Will work on the majority of TV's, however we cannot guarantee 100% success - it seems to not like Samsungs....

Poundland used to sell something similar - for (yes) a Pound.

:whistling: I have an off button on my TV remote already and when the battery fails I think there is one on the TV itself, otherwise, isn't this a bit daft and a waste of money?

5 tvs!!! You ought to be able to spend more for a supersonic remote control! :-D

We used to have these at school for when they had the big old assemblies with video's being used to annoy the teachers.

Also used them at places like Curries to turn off all their tv's.

Great fun!

Yes, i bought one for a quid last year. Definitely works.

I also bought one from Poundland last year, it does work - brilliant gadget for winding offspring up by changing their channels and they don't know how/why it's happening!

Sadistic I know!! :giggle:

Have to admit to finding Winchy's Curry story funny!!

A friend used to work in an independent TV shop, & the owner got miffed when Currys opened up a couple of doors down, so he used to send his staff with remotes in to Currys at regular intervals to mess up their demos to potential customers & then suggest to the potential customers that they try the independent shop instead:giggle:

Why not?!! Haha, just ordered myself one - next step ... annoying the people at the bus station by shutting off the plasmas there!

Yeap,l but let us know how you get on!! And remember to take some photos...:whistling:

Can't believe the RRP was £19.99 !!!

How is this deal hot when people get them from the pound shop ?

Voted cold - poundland wins this deal! (yes I have one and it works!)

Do Poundland still do them and if so, what do they call them?

Are they still available in Poundlands though?

Play are now out of stock anyway

TV-B-Gone is also a similar product (they're on Play.com also). I've a TV-B-Gone myself, but do prefer this item (the look anyway).

INdeed it is quite fun, I managed to turn off about 7 TVs out of about 20 or so before getting scared and running out of the shop (Y)

Does anyone else have problems getting this to work?!

Yes, same here - I've tried on two different TVs so far and nothing happens with any of the buttons. Thinking of returning...
