TVCatchup Never Miss a Show (FREE)

TVCatchup is an internet television service for viewing certain UK channels from free-to-air digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasters live without the use of a television receiver. The service re-broadcasts BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five and free to air Sky channels. Initially the legality of the service was questioned causing it to be suspended. The service was relaunched minus the network PVR functionality offering a roster of TV channels upon free registration. As the service permits the viewing of live television channels a TV licence is required. The service is only accessible in the United Kingdom. The service is funded by advertising, with a pre-roll advertisements preceding the live channel stream.

Yeah, I was going to re-post this soon myself but was waiting for the announcement that it is to support a lot more mobile handsets, currently in testing...

It initially started out as a PVR service but was withdrawn and re-launched as a live service, see here...

maybe for some, but not for others...

Not a bad idea, particularly as it's free, but the quality ain't great. Looks Ok on the iPhone, but on the ipad's larger higher res screen it looks awful!

In the latest issue of Webuser, there's an aricle about 'online TV'

As well as this company, other ones to consider are :

video.uk.msn.com

Just thought this might be of interest.

I have TVCatchup on my Pc, as it was mentioned on this site a few months ago

I didn't.

Easy solution to that problem, use something with some processing power and a hardware spec that isnt out dated by a few years already!

been using it since the early days handy free service thats quite reliable if you want higher quality get a usb tv card, sorry i forgot your paid stupid money for a device lacking in such basic features

this work on android ?

eh now? We are on resnet and it makes a fair few things not work. I can't use webcam on msn (but skype works ok), I get huge lag on internet games (like football manager) and download managers dont work (very annoying because I use rapidshare a lot and putting all the links in individually is a right pain in the ****!).

Oh really? Got any links 'cos I can't find them.

been using this now for a while . mainly in work you can watch it on your computer with your head phone on in one ear so no one can notice.
would be good for the world cup for those people stuck in work

nah, a tampon holds more than an ipad.

its great on my comp never had any probs at all

just found this put on their forum today
In advance of the World Cup, we are pleased to announce that we are starting to test both low and high quality TVCatchup streams.

The low quality (350kb/s) and high quality (1500kb/s) will compliment the existing standard quality (750kb/s) and will mean that all members have the very best viewing experience.

If you would like to help us test the new stream sizes, just select the "Low" or "High" quality tab from the Channels page. The options will appear this weekend.

We will be working on the streams over the next few weeks to iron out any bugs in advance of June 11th!

Ive been using Zattoo whioch does pretty much thge same job

Error when signup

Again? .... seriously?

I'm certain this gets posted every week on here. Is it too difficult to do a search before posting?

In any case, don't expect the best service from them. I'm on a 24MB connection, of which I connect at 23.5. I can download at around 2.5 to 2.75MB/s but somehow when looking at my connection graphs when streaming, it's not fluid. It downloads at 100kB/s for 5 seconds, then drops. Rinse and repeat every 5 seconds. As such, I haven't watched one episode / film without the buffering nonsense that we all experienced in the 90's.

Not bad if you need to use this service, but if you have a televison set nearby, I'd opt for that.

I find Zattoo to be easier to use. Need to download app first.

So you posted the one that the OP mentioned 4 months and a bit ago.
Then there is one post since then mentioning it's available on the iphone.
The rest are older than 4 months ago so don't count.
That is hardly "then again a few weeks after that, and then a few weeks after that, etc etc and then again just last week" now is it? :?

And we all know how bad the search function is on here.
And if people don't format / spell their postings consistently, then that would make it even harder to find previous posts.

Seems enough people on here have said they didn't know about this to warrant a re-post.
