TVonics DTR-Z250 250GB Digital Television Recorder £99 @ Sainsburys

Was in my local Bristol store yesterday and managed to get the last one of these. Considering they are on the website at the same price, it must be a nationwide price. The assistant told me more stock is on its way.

It's a great PVR, check the review out. A far better option than the thompson that has recently been put on here. The latest software upgrades seem to have ironed out any gliches with it. I'm very happy with it.

nice find, it's also on their website at:

Some link that sainsburys/?network_id=cj&source=cj&affiliate_id=1546795[/url]

sainsbury's/ lol

I have an earlier version of this and it's been pretty good. I note that Sainsburys website says 'Out of stock'.

i think the OP entered the deal as online and just typed in sainsburys into the direct link box.
This would auto add the http:// and hotukdeals affiliate link ?network_id=cj&source=cj&affiliate_id=1546795

I think we can forgive him/her...

Sorry no offence meant to OP, I thought it was funny that's all.

It's bleedin ugly isn't it? I thought it was a photo of something entirely different!

looks pretty bulky and ugly but then again, i think looking at this pic...it might be smaller than i first thought!

yeah sorry this was my first deal uploaded so i'll have to remember that next time (can't see how to edit it now). I noticed it was out of stock online, the deal was supposed to be in store only.

As above I also own the previous model. Good bit of kit, great remote and very easy to use. Made in Britain by ex Sony people apparently. Recommended.

Criticism would be that the fast forward/rewind is not as precise as that on Sky+ which can be a bit annoying.

OMG you are right :w00t:

In my mind it was shoebox size!

Unless the remote is ironing board size of course lol

I like it now!

It is very small considering what it does. Half the size of a normal PVR, I think it looks pretty sexy myself. The remote is really easy to navigate with, think its modelled very closely on the sky remote. Pic quality is very good also.

Also it has a feature that I haven't seen on any other PVR's: when u flick channels, it saves it from the point u flick onto it. So if u decide to watch that channel you can can rewind it.

i noticed it says universal remote... can this remote be programmed to control the TV/Blu-Ray/cinema system etc... aswel?

Original Poster

yes. there is a list of codes at the back of instructions. I programmed my t.v in. there are 3 buttons on remote, tv, dtr and dvd.

would opt for a humax over this. I had the 160gb version of this and it was always going out of sync after fast forward / rewinds. Still is a good box as I bought 3 of them (£80 each from argos 3 years ago)

Humax is infinitely better albeit about £20-£30 more
