Yes! I want to do that. Do you need the bridge or will the bulb just talk to the TV?

You need the bridge
Yes you need a bridge, as this is the old non bluetooth version. However the bigger bargain is that this is also included in the Spotify promotion - 6months premium access for free (worth £60) - scrub that, you need to spend more than £49

Im sure you still need a bridge for the bluetooth ones as the setup still works through the bridge, i have bluetooth ones, and i used the bridge.

You don’t need a bridge with Bluetooth, but the scope of what you can do is limited.

So how do you do it, because when you go through the setup it looks for a bridge, have you actually done it or are you just presuming? cheers.
There's a separate Hue Bluetooth app for the Bluetooth bulbs.

I've the same as you - bluetooth with Hub, and assumed that Bluetooth would only allow control on one bulb, but apparently (been corrected by others) bluetooth can control a number of bulbs all at once. So a certain amount of presumption (I don't use the bluetooth as Hub is much better), and education by other people who do use Bluetooth :-)
Interesting and informative comments thx everyone
If you want the bulbs to work with your ambilight TV you will need a bridge, just like if you want to setup an entertainment area.

You need a bridge to set it up to work with the Philips ambilight, it won't work otherwise. This so from experience and it's very very odd to begin with as you keep getting distracted, but you get used to it and it's awesome

Not with ambilight, you 1000000000% need a bridge.

I’ve not mentioned ambilight. I simply said that you can control these lights without a hub. Its a subset of the full hub features. Look it up on Hue’s website.
Example page: www2.meethue.com/en-…317
Says control up to 10 via bluetooth app, optionally unleash full potential with a hub.

and then your post then said the following,

so i then said you need a bridge for any hue bulbs to work with ambilight, maybe miscommunication

Anyone know if this can go up to 800 lumens as I need a bright bulb? Some versions of these are just 400-500 lumen.
