Posted as I am not sure how many people know you can get DSLR's from homebase

I know this camera has been around for a while - and it is generally available AT THE MOMENT for around £350 - But with the current 15% off at Homebase - you also get the 75-300 zoom lens for less than an extra £65

the 1000d is still pretty highly regarded as one of the best entry level Digital SLR's

I know these have been cheaper in the past - but there haven't been many good deals on DSLR's in the last few months that I'vebeen aware of

maybe some one should update the tittle as the camera is the 1000d not a 100d... not that its a good camera. You should really pop for a xxxD like the 450d or 500d if you can as there are bargains out there. This is really BUDGET! If it was like £200-250 then maybe Id give heat but not for north of £400!

It's not that much different to a 450D really. Slightly smaller screen being the only physical difference. Some other parts are slightly worse, but you wouldn't notice in normal usage most likely.

Cheapest with kit lens is £350 so you're paying £64 for the 75-300mm USM which normally sells for £240 (it's not a great lens but good for £64).

Seems to be around £360 for the body and standard lens, the 75-300mm lens seems to be about £240 - so for this DSLR - looks pretty hot for me.

However I think that Olympus DSLRs twin lens kits can be had for cheaper (better standard lenses, very good high quality lenses - not sure how the E450/420/410/520/500 stack against the competition these days - but am very happy with my E510. go to a camera shop and see how they handle for you.

... but investigate the system if you think that you're likely to want to add more lenses and accessories in the future.
