You're gonna feel so bad if that is the op.

crown carvery for me £3.59, granted no ice cream included but no voucher needed and all day mon- sat

No offence but if that's you then I'd recommend something more healthy than Toby.

Heat added for the pic alone, a hotty!!!

We do both, Toby is better but Crown is good and cheap when there's a few of us.

great thanks

Heated.

not a patch on toby.....beef at crown is grim

Voted cold. Used to love Toby but went three months for the first in about four months and the quality of food has gone down hill. Cheap joints of beef and ham. No thanks can go to a local pub and pay a little bit more but the reputation hangs on a producing a decent pub lunch.

went to the toby in bexleyheath on thursday, most of the food was incredibly grim, but the meat was okay.

Think it depends when you go, if its not very busy food sits around all day, if its busy food gets turned over quickly so always fresh.

bog-standard food at bog-standard price = cold

bottom-drawer 'food' for the masses- cold.

We say this offer a couple of weeks ago and thought we'd give it a try as we'd never been to a Toby. The place was packed and the queue to reach the one guy carving meat was long. When we got the food it was cold and stodgy. Beef was like leather. I'm not exaggerating when I say that half way through my wife had to run outside to be physically sick.

On the plus side the waitress was very pleasant!

I was amazed the place was so busy with such awful food. In contrast the four of us had been to Fire and Stone in Covent Garden the week before and eaten a delicious meal for less than the Toby offer price as kids eat free there.

it depends on where you go, some are good some are bad. but to say its not healthy is not right, its meat and veg granted its boiled but is definately healthy compared with other meals. definately more health than a big mac meal and for the same price

It's not a bad deal with the ice-cream, our local crown carvery is nicer food though. Our crown cavery does offer unlimited icecream for £1.70 though - it's a self serve soft ice-cream machine like pizza huts icecream factory - very nice

The food at our Toby Carverys delish! thanks:3

Toby Carvery is great as is Crown Carvery. Only difference is mainly that Toby Carvery's vegetables are fresh whilst Crown Carvery's are frozen (this is not implying that Crown Carvery's veg is inferior - its not as many frozen vegetables such as garden peas are better frozen).

On off peak, Toby is about £5.25. With voucher you get a £2.50 ice-cream for free. Peak time, Toby is £9 (Sunday) or about £7 after 7pm weekdays. When you've got a large group you may find that Crown Carveries is the better option during peak times.

I like them both, but if cost was not an issue, Toby's meat is slightly better. There is an issue with Toby currently sourcing Halal meat to unsuspecting customers.

Always been good at our local one

watch out for unadvertised halal meat!

Think Toby & Crown Carveries are owned by the same company - The Crown Carvery £3.59 price is great for what you get - would agree with comment above - the beef is usually a let down - rubbery but the turkey and gammon are usually great nice and moist - always ask for extra yorkshires and stuffing !!! Veg is usually fine unless its been on the hotplate too long.

Drinks are pretty reasonable as well which is good as thats usually the catch with cheap food - they catch you with expensive drinks.

Its def still one of the best eating out deals there is - should not have been expired off this site.

Yes they are the same company

If anyone knows how you can make yorkies like Toby im all ears, when we make them they are more like flying saucers !

If you want big un's you have to preheat oil in baking trays ie little cake making trays, when the oil is literally bubbling and popping as its so hot - you pour some batter mix in, then get them straight back in to cook they will rise like ballons !!!!

Get what you pay for. Cold.

Cool, will give it a go !

Tried to take them up on this offer a couple of weeks ago. Sadly when we got there they said no food until 7pm as the "ovens aren't working" and wouldn't honour the discount despite being there at quarter to 6.
Won't be going back until it changes hands and is re-branded as another restaurant, which happens at least twice a year lol.
