Two DeWalt Tape Measures £9.99 @ Screwfix

At first I thought this was a pricing error because the only comparable products on the Screwfix website weigh in at £24.99 for the 5m and £26.99 for the 8m.

£9.99 for 2 DeWalt tape measures! One 5m & one 8m, with a 3m standout.

New stock to Screwfix in the 2018 product line.

Who’s paying £52 in the first place? Fair price at £9.99 but can’t see it ever being sold at the original price
the prices you quoted are for a different style

I'm all for paying for quality, but this is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay a tenner for it never mind £25+
I've got half a dozen tape measures, they all measure exactly the same, and the two with the big names on are also the two that were first to break.

Fair point, it is a different style. It's the 2018 range.

Again, you don't have to buy them. It's the deal that's good should you be in the market for a DeWalt tape measure.
The ones that are more expensive are the Professional ones, I don't think these are the same? If they are, I agree they are a bargain.

I bought these last night and they feel weighty and reliable just like the others. They do advertise a 3m standout as opposed to 4m which to be honest is more realistic. As the ones that claim a 4m standout can only just tolerate it (if you're careful).
Welcome to HUKD.

But I'm afraid this is a classic HUKD fail.

You assume too much knowledge of the reader. Even for the cheaper version (Tylon versus Mylar) this would be a good price.

But you haven't explained it adequately. And quoting the 'Professional' version as the base price doesn't help.

Some readers need their hands held (me!) so you should also point out this is the price for 2 measures.
By the way I find value in expensive tape measures, tempted to buy them as even if they are mid range it is dirt cheap

It's extraordinary that this has gone down to -185 degrees currently. Two decent tape measures for £10. Maybe that's not a fabulous bargain, but it's certainly a decent price.

I don't think it helped that the OP didn't make it clear it was for two, and not £9.99 each. For the pair it's an OK price, but I took it to be each so voted cold.

not a deal.
There's nothing more satisfying than the 'click clack' sound you get on a quality tape measure when you bend it. Or maybe it's just me.
If you want a real good quality tape measure then go for the Milwaukee tape measure

You get downvotes when you come up with ridiculous quoted original prices. Had they just posted them at £9.99 it would have gone hot, spouting £52 ruined any chance of heat.
Are these much better than the stanley tylon ones?

Do the cheaper ones have a 3m standout? And a measurement of the length of the tape measure embossed onto the side of them so you can measure to the back of the device itself?

I'll check tomorrow I can tell you they don't have the embossed measurement, that's totally unnecessary- you can measure from the back of any tape measure. Tools for the iPod generation eh?!

But do they all measure the same? I'm getting the impression you're an occasional DIYer and don't know a big pile about tools.

The more expensive tapes usually have a higher accuracy. A few millimeters won't make a difference for someone like yourself doing a wee bit of DIY but for professionals it will make a difference.

Ha, if you knew how wrong you are there you'd have to laugh about it! Suffice to say I don't need a lesson in accuracy

Just looked at all the deals you posted and they're all tools should have checked that yesterday lol.
I still stand by my point that the cheaper tapes are usually less accurate. Most of the work I do has to be to the mm. I couldn't risk being out by a few mm from using a cheap tape.

No harm done I spent the last 8 years programming CNC for cabinet production, working to 10ths & sometimes 100ths of a millimeter. The factory guys were all kitted out with fairly cheap Fisco tapes, we found them as accurate as anything else (and we tested loads, there's really nothing between most tapes unless you're talking real cheap rubbish).

But a tenner for two isn't bad at all, I just think it wasn't made clear enough in the original post (and still isn't), that's likely why this has been voted so cold.

Not so bad. Fair enough if you tested them. Just I know them McAllister ones that b and q reduced recently were only accurate to 1mm/m.

I tend to generally have a tape measure on me, so if I'm in a shop buying a new one I check it against my own- anal I know!
Good deal voted hot
Thanks for sharing @Greenage Great price for a couple of decent tape measures.
