There's quite often 3 for 2 deals knocking about so if you need a few packs it's worth looking around, but this seems a good deal
You should add White Ambiance to the title so people know the type
good deal for a single pack - but AO works out £29.33 if you need 3 with current 3 for 2

just can't bring myself to spend 18 quid on a gu10 when I need about 16 of them in my flat

I need 14. They're the only bulbs I can't bring myself to upgrade!
Anyone tried the hue hub compatible versions ikea sell for £7 and £12 or are they a complete pain to work with?

I’ve tried them and am going to take them back. They were for an up/down front door light. One kept saying unreachable. Other people seem to have had success though. I’m going to see if the proper hue bulbs are any better. Also Ikea bulbs don’t seem to show up in Apple HomeKit if using them through the hue bridge.

I have successfully added numerous Ikea bulbs. I have 8 Phillips Hue ones and have the same number of ikea ones. I used the following guide and it was pretty simple. the-ambient.com/how…255

I've used the straight white ones (£7) and they're fine. (Unless you use HomeKit etc, see the next comment reply.)

The £12 have adjustable colour temp (cold -> warm white light, Phillips call it "Ambiance"). While I've not tried the the GU10 ones specifically, Tradfri bulbs on Hue have an issue with adjusting temp and brightness in the same command. They'll adjust one or the other, but not both at once. No known fix other than sending the command twice!

Usually that means there's too much distance between bulbs for the mesh. Sometimes a sign you need a bulb in the middle, or that your light fitting is blocking the signal.

You can try turning everything off at the mains, powering up the Hub, then the bulbs nearest, then further away. I've seen people say they've had results with that, but I don't know enough about how the Zigbee mesh configures to confirm.

And yeah, Hue doesn't expose third-party bulbs to HomeKit. Homebridge and Homebridge-Hue are what I've deployed for someone needing that solution. You can set it to expose JUST the third-party bulbs, or all bulbs.
Just read the details on that link. Very close to what I have done using ikeas e14 and e27 screw caps. Main faff is it soon got tedious that it can take several attempts per bulb to get them added to the hue hub. In my experience.
On the link it also mentions not to bother trying to add the tradfri physical switches. Well I came across a way to add them and can now add the cheap dimmer/switches consistently first time now to the hue hub and a hue light or room of hue lights

Do you not find the light status won't consistently report in Hue if the Tradfri switch is used much?

And are you using the adjustable temp colour Tradfri bulbs (or indeed the new colour ones), or straight white? If the adjustable temp/colour, are you finding scene changes with simultaneous brightness/temp are unreliable?

Other faff is updating the firmware. Can't update Tradfri bulbs/steering devices from the Hue Hub. (That's why I have a dedicated Tradfri gateway, to keep mine and my mates' Tradfri bulbs up to date... )

Interested in your experience.

Bought 18 through the AO deal - £264 in total not including TCB. Expensive but I already have the bridge, lightstrip and two candle bulbs so more about full integration that anything else.
Now showing as £43.00
