Oh that sucks I was hoping the link would explain it all. The website …Oh that sucks I was hoping the link would explain it all. The website seems really good and it shows which games are cheapest in which region.

It’s worth setting up a Mexican PayPal though and adding a card like Monzo. You can then use it for US and Mexico store purchases without having to buy credit.
I can't believe this isn't getting heat. I managed to do this from scratch. I did the following:

1) Went onto Mexican eshop through Mexican VPN (not sure if the VPN was necessary but thought I may as well use one)
2) created a Mexican account. You'll have to use a different email address to the one your current Nintendo account is linked to
3) created a Mexican PayPal account and linked my monzo card
4) added the new switch profile to my switch (start any game and when it asks for which user, press the + button)
5) went on my switch eshop to purchase the game and it then directed to an email about linking the PayPal and switch accounts
6) opened the email and linked the PayPal and switch accounts
7) went back on the switch and purchased the game through PayPal. It let me add the exact amounts of funds through PayPal payment (which is my monzo card)
the game downloaded and I used my regular profile rather than my Mexican one when opening. I haven't taken the Mexican one off just incase but its doing no harm being there. I can use it for future Mexican or US purchases now

Thanks OP and everyone who's commented on here as I've been wondering about whether or not to try this.

I know the way I've typed this sounds long winded but honestly, it took me 10-15 minutes, and it will be a lot quicker for any games purchased moving forward as everything is set up.

Set up a Mexican PayPal and add a card like Monzo to it.
Heat added
No cards work on the Mexican store OP it would require a Mexican PayPal account.

I have one. Setting up the Mexican PayPal was easy. I did have a little trouble adding a card and linking the Switch to the PayPal but got there eventually.
Thanks. Did you use a monzo card like was mentioned? Or did you manage to set up a UK bank account on Mexican PayPal? I’ve read that this isn’t possible so I’ve set up a monzo account but don’t know if this will work on the Mexican PayPal

I set up a Mexican PayPal account, with a Mexican address and a revolut card.
Starling doesn't work. Does anyone know if you can transfer money from UK PayPal to the Mexican PayPal and pay that way?

With a Monzo card. I tried a couple of others but it was Monzo that worked for me.

You supposedly l can. Others said they did that.l but I haven’t tried it. I think you would need to transfer some money in before linking it to the Switch.

See if changing the region of the account works and then try and add it. Somebody made a Mexican account the other day and had problems linking it. They changed to Australia and then it let them link it.

Im getting stuck at 3).. I have tried three times to make a Mexican PP (different new emails each time) and when I add either a Monzo or Revolut it limits that account and asks for photo ID (and doesnt add the card). Do you use the Mexican address for registering and the card adding bit? Maybe ill try with VPN. Thanks!

For the billing address, I used my home address but then in country I left it as Mexican and that worked fine for me. The only thing it wouldnt let me do is postcode as it wanted only digits, so I just put 12345.but it never limited me or asked for ID. Hopefully I haven't just got lucky!

This worked perfectly for me. I used Revolut instead of Monzo, and used Private/Porn mode on the browser to avoid auto-complete or auto-logging in to my “UK” email/paypal/nintendo/. Thanks. :-)
I’ve created a monzo account, but do I need to wait for the card to come through to link it to the Mexican PayPal account that I’ve set up? Tried to add the Monzo sort code and account number, but it seems to need a 16 digit card number

If there is no card number on the app then yes you would need to wait for the physical card. Is there no card showing on the app when you log in ? If there is you can click on it and choose show card number. It was a long time ago I set up a Monzo account so can’t remember.
Just set this up myself. Created a Mexican Nintendo account, and a Mexican Paypal account. I was able to link my Monzo card to that. (I couldn't use my Monzo card directly paying to Nintendo) Tested it by buing Quest for the Golden Duck for about 7p
So I’ve set up a Mexican PayPal account with a random address. I’ve got my monzo card through and activated it, but my Mexican PayPal account would not accept it, and says that it was declined by the bank. I suspect that it’s because the address details are different between the monzo card with my UK address, and my Mexican PayPal address. Can anyone help me as I’ve hit a wall here. I want to get 2 Point Hospital cheap, but have spent a lot of time getting nowhere so far, so any help will be appreciated

When creating the Mexican account use the same first line of address as your card. You will just need to put a Mexican postcode.
Brilliant, Thanks! I’ve got it linked now
So I’ve got the Mexican PayPal account set up to my monzo card. Downloaded a 7p game which worked fine. Then went to download Two point hospital and am getting error code 10417 on my switch. Sadly i just cant get it to add any of my cards.. I get spinny circle then (in spanish) We are sorry. We cannot process your request at this time. Try it again later.

I even used a VPN.
I managed to buy a cheap game fine on the Mexican e shop, so not sure why it’s not worked for a higher value payment. I’ve spent way too long on this to give up now, but don’t know how to get around this error code

The error code indicates that the payment is failing authorisation with your card provider, which is also consistent with you seeing an immediate return of funds. Anti-fraud and other security checks will more likely be triggered by higher-value transactions.

Contacting Monzo for guidance may be your only workable option here, as it seems that they're the source of the check that you're failing.

Alternatively, support the developer of the game that you're clearly keen to play, by paying the intended price for our market.

Yeah but been on sale many times and I already have it on PC and it’s on Game Pass. All digital games are full price on the stores because it’s a controlled market. That doesn’t mean it’s what they are worth

It's been on sale on PC, yes, but that's a somewhat different situation - it's been out much longer on PC, and console games are almost always more expensive, with much more in the way of overheads. Give it time and it'll get discounts on consoles too.
