I use Android Auto with my OPPO phone. I'm using Android 13 on the phone and the head unit is a Pioneer I had fitted in the car. The firmware on the Pioneer is 2020 and doesn't look like it will ever get another update and so far I don't get any disconnects. So I would think it's an Android Auto issue or the head unit. See if you can get software updates to the phone, Android Auto app and the head unit. To find out the version of Android Auto you need to either :

    1. Go to Phone Settings > Connections and Sharing (might be called something else depends on the phone) and then to Android Auto and the version is displayed at the bottom of the app the latest stable version appears to be 11.9.641814-release

    2. You can go to Settings > Apps > App Management (or whereever the apps overview is on your phone) ?> Android Auto > additional settings in the app (right at the bottom in this screen) and then open Android Auto and you'll see the release at the bottom

Those are the two ways I know how to access Android Auto on the phone when it's not plugged into the head unit.

Now let's say you have updated the phone, the Android Auto app and the head unit and it still disconnects then you can first of all try the adapter in this deal and IF that doesn't work then you could try a more expensive option which is a wireless adapter such as this which appears to be one of the best for that purpose out there >
