Spotted these in the Norwich Chapelfield store today.

They seem to be adding different stock each day, I've been every day for the past week, and have bought 41 Cds so far!

Update : they also had "Under a blood red sky" too

maybe so, but you could import them to your audio format of choice. I bet you can't buy these albums as mp3 for £3.

32 years on and still selling out stadia the world over.... They're doing something right!

Statistically, you are incorrect.

Hot deal but very very overated band, watched them in London 5 years ago and they sound terible "live"

I was in HMV in Braehead and there were loads of CDs reduced. I picked up Take That - Circus (for the wife of course) and Bat For Lashes for £2 each.

Yes, clearly, they moved over from post punk to pompous stadium rock. Commerciality over art.

Unless WAV becomes standardised with any decent DACs to stream or play them from external storage then apart from MP3s for portable us (and I still prefer to rip my own MP3s from CDs using LAME) then I am sticking with my much better sounding NAD CD Player.

i agree totally!!

Top Band....Hardly overrated as they still sell out concerts world-wide. Ppl would not go if they were as overrated and c**p as some here say they are. Have stood the test of time they have....

I think they're the audio equivalent of Marmite.
I don't think I know anyone who is indifferent.

I think they went through a crap few years, but I went watching them last year at Croke Park and they were superb, really something special.
That said, have seen them 6 times, 3 crap, 3 great.
To say they're rubbish is a bit closed minded though; they're pretty eclectic lately, I find it hard to believe you could hate every song on their latest album. Chances are you cover your ears and say "la la la la, i hate U2 and refuse to listen to them" and haven't changed your view in 20 years.
Which is a shame, you're missing out.

Ok, i dont use itunes or any MP3 sites for that matter, but I guess it costs more than £3 to d/l an album?

I am glad to be missing out...like stadium rockers Simple Minds, I feel U2 haven't pumped out anything decent to my ears for 25 years plus, US since Unforgettable Fire and Simple Minds since New Gold Dream, both bands lost their post punk aggressive edge in favour of stadium rock antherms which don't suit my ears at all.

I never stated it wasn't a good deal or voted it cold, however there are a lot of 80s and 90s bands that have an extensive back catalogue you can invariably buy between £3-5 both instore at HMV or online at Play.com or Amazon.

Wouldn't it be more constructive then to give details of what better album (IYO) could be bought for £3 from HMV. FYI, I've bought 44 from the sale so far, but no U2 or Simple Minds.

Hey, fair enough, you listen to what you like - and I find the older I get the more I tend to stick with what I know and what I like.
I'm just saying that you shouldn't judge them today on what you thought 20 years ago because I think they've changed, and some of the songs on their last album in particular are of the level I'd expect from an energetic, innovative young band at the top of their game.

Hot deal ( heat added OP - top find ) essential albums in anyone's collection...from the world's biggest / best / most important band. period. end of argument.
Ask ANY lesser band would they like to be in U2's position - and yourself if you were in a band. ?
This is a 'deals' site. Riles me when the 'holier than thou / righter than right' brigade put their tuppence worth in...same with the cheap bike deals and the £3k bikers muck in...horses for courses - and - Opinions are like assholes...everyone's got one...even me.
