Appears to be similar in construction to their newer & slightly costlier replacement amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1. I purchased one recently and have to say it works well with the metal outer case keeping operating temperature under control.
- Design for M.2 NVMe SSD: UGREEN External M.2 SSD caddy Only supports NVME SSD (M Key/B+M Key) up to 2TB in size 2230/2242/2260/2280, such as Crucial WD Kingston Integral, etc. Note: Doesn't support NGFF SSD.
- 10Gbps Fast Speed: The USB C NVMe tp USB SSD enclosure delivers data transfer speed up to 10Gbps (The actual tested transmission rate reaches 1280MB/S), 70% faster in reading and 40% in writing than traditional USB 3.0 M.2 Caddy.
- Enhanced Heat Dissipation: Equipped with a built-in heat dissipation sticker, the aluminum alloy shell dissipates heat in an all-around way, achieves multiple cooling effects, and protects the hard disk more effectively.

sorted byI transferred close to 700GB of data to my Kioxia stick as a laptop backup image ssd, during which the case never heated beyond a tepid temperature. (Less than the heat a smartphone generates after being actively used).
It was the successor case to this model.
Perhaps thermal performance is the reason for the newer model's redesign? (edited)
Not had problems with several others.
Having said that leaving it open and with a proper m.2 heatsink installed seems best but ruins portability.
There is an Orico that does the job better.

I need it to support both types. For whatever reason I had both types in a recently deceased laptop. I have older hardware with both B and M notches, requiring older, SATA disks.
Kingston have the specs
Are the connectors labeled as Ugreen too?
