Appears to be similar in construction to their newer & slightly costlier replacement amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1. I purchased one recently and have to say it works well with the metal outer case keeping operating temperature under control.

    Was going to buy then noticed the comments about the drives getting very hot. Tempted by the price but not willing to put my expensive 2tb in one.

    Without active cooling every SSD case will get hot sooner than later. Even with best build in radiator you need to have airflow through the fins stack to accelerate heat dispersing

    A lot of afflicted people don't bother adding the thermal compound strip.

    I transferred close to 700GB of data to my Kioxia stick as a laptop backup image ssd, during which the case never heated beyond a tepid temperature. (Less than the heat a smartphone generates after being actively used).

    It was the successor case to this model.
    Perhaps thermal performance is the reason for the newer model's redesign? (edited)

    I had one of these, it was crazy tight fit for a WD 550 to the point of almost snapping.
    Not had problems with several others.

    These slide in enclosures are not very good. You do need to consider cooling.

    Having said that leaving it open and with a proper m.2 heatsink installed seems best but ruins portability.

    There is an Orico that does the job better.

    Voted hot, because I confused it with the £40 enclosures from China that support NVME **and** SATA. UGREEN is fine but doesn't support SATA.

    I need it to support both types. For whatever reason I had both types in a recently deceased laptop. I have older hardware with both B and M notches, requiring older, SATA disks.

    better off just going for a 'Transcend M.2 SATA SSD Enclosure Kit' bought one in 2019 for my m2 drive and used frequently since then with zero issues..

    On the other Ugreen unit I purchased, both cables were terminated with UGreen branded connectors.

    Use thermal pads with this if your drive gets warm. Many do,, many don't. Usb c cables are all not made equally, so if you require a longer lead for this make sure it's a proper rated for data transfer usb c male to male cable. Supplied one is very short (edited)
