I recently bought some new nvme sticks for my PC that freed up the two 1TB WD Black ones I had previously. Seeing how much Cex would pay for them I thought I would be better off reusing them some way so i bought one of these to use it as external storage for my Xbox.
It works fairly well and doesn't seem to get hot, however you won't be getting 10Gbps, I'm getting about 2.5Gbps.

Your ssd wont operate near its max read write rates via usb, 900mb max. They get hot if you upload a huge file from it for hours but not crazy hot.

sorry, cold for me. This gets far too hot - pardon the obvious....

got one of these instead a few weeks back, much better although not perfect:

Ordered cheers. I was thinking do I download a 60 GB movie on my phone. Then transfer it to the NVMe. Then plug the USB C into a Hdmi adapter? Then into the TV?

    Cheers

Shouldn’t be hot, what with all that heat dissipation….

    why is this hot
    Avatar
Because of the drive inside, according to other posters

Why all the comments about heat? Sounds like it's better than a lot of these enclosures reading the reviews.

USB c 3.2 goes up to 20Gb which is about 2,500 MBPS
    That's fast enough!?
    Avatar
You can’t get 2500mb over usb c no matter what drive you put in it or what enclosure you use. Only pci express slots give you that speed. (edited)

I am looking to get one of these due to a laptop drive failing. I want to use this to clone it and then replace the drive on laptop with the clone. Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 7567. Does anyone know if that laptop drive is a M or B M key?!? Also is a Kioxia exceria or crucial P3 1TB a M or B M key?!?

Just to say I am returning mine, as the rubber pin is an absolute pain and the SSD detached from the enclosure. Thought it had corrupted. Not a good design imo
