Cheap electricals 😳
Good price (for all, great for new users) if it is actually any good, however I've bought several USB-C cables from China that are supposedly 'fast charging' and all were crap. When tested with Ampere (Android app, yes not as good as an in line tester, but it seemed to be a reasonably good measure) it found they were unstable and generally half that of a genuine Lenovo fast charging cable (this is on a 5v 2A mains charger by the way, so we are not talking about an expectation of quick charge speeds).

Strangely though, I've bought a couple of cheap wireless Switch controllers of different styles from AliExpress, both around £10, both USB-C charging and both with USB-C charge cables which are actually decent and according to Ampere were stable and charging at marginally less than the genuine Lenovo cable in the same scenario. Obviously buying a Switch controller if you just want the USB-C cable is not good economy but I do find it strange that these cables that I wasn't even expecting to receive with the items are actually good whereas ones sold separately have been so bad.

I can't speak specific to the product here, but I've never had an issue with a UGREEN product and they are always well reviewed when seen. Amazon, for example.

If these are genuine Ugreen, however it is not the official Ugreen store, which is here: ugreen.aliexpress.com/sto…635

You know I trust you a lot Buzz, and if I was gonna risk it again I would certainly be considering something you've posted, but just sharing my experiences.

You're making me question it myself now. All we can go on I guess is a bit of trust. It's easy to take a punt at a penny, but at what level.

I wonder if there's anyone out there who's bought from this seller that can confirm what they've received is the proper stuff? I'd rather not buy a cheap cable that then costs me a lot of money further down the line!
use Revolut Mastercard to pay the PENNY and remember to untick save card details. If you never get the item, Revolut will refund the PENNY.

Buy it for a penny and sell it for a £1 on ebay.

Maybe it's not Edge that's causing the problem. The reason I mentioned Edge is so it maybe points to a problem if someone else using Edge experiences the same problem.

I try and be helpful. You should try it.

Possibly a different issue. I'm using Microsoft Edge with no issues on the link.

Sorry, this is part of the problem with AliExpress, there are loads of copycat stores that may or may not sell genuine products. Which isn't to say this is a bad one, it may well be a good one, the seller has plenty of followers which tends to be what I try to look for when buying from AliExpress, they could even be an official distributor, not quite sure how you verify that on AliExpress.

I've had a closer look at their store, and it does seem they only sell UGREEN products (quick scan). Their rating is positive with 99.5% and ratings of 4.9/5 on feedback.
I have used AliExpress before, goods arrived without problem, but i the quality of their goods are bad. Got some USB cables and Xiaomi Mi bands. Cables broke within 10 days, Mi bands screen getting darker and darker up to a point that i could not see the time anymore.

Completely agree. Ugreen are a good brand IMO but it is hard to identify the genuine store. Any store that tries to copy the proper store raises questions to me. For the sake of a pound or two just pay the extra. The implication now is that you can get a cable from the main store for $0.54 ($2.54 - $2 new user coupon).

The older Mi Band 1 and 2 did that over time, my Mi Band 2 was a good 18 months old before I upgraded to the Mi Band 4 and had got darker but was still ok. Not sure if the Mi Band 4 will do that too but at £20 a pop, I don't care, if I get 12 months then I am happy as can upgrade to the next one at that point, longer and it is great.
Just out of interest, should we be looking for cables with resistors? When I look through the official ugreen site - thanks @daedos - not many of the usb-c cables actually show they have them

I was not expecting to change my band every 12 months. Thought Xiaomi products are better quality but it is just packaging and marketing.

£20 for a band for 12 months vs how much for a premium equivalent? Xiaomi products are generally very good quality for the price, but they are not priced as a premium product and there have to be some compromises at a fraction of the price of such. On a cheap product like that I don't mind getting 12 months myself, but I guess we have different expectations.

To be safer yes you should though it can be a minefield. I think Ugreen is a good brand so I assume that they have the pull-up resistor even if not explicitly mentioned. If in doubt pick one that does, several to choose from.

don't buy the ones with small number of orders on AliExpress. UGreen is a very decent brand with Anker and rock having better quality cables.

It was a (semi) joke. A lot of comments going around at the moment about firmware updates causing screens to go dark, just as a new band is about to be released.
