Type your comment here...Is this the same camera for £ 232.99

I was making the exact same consideration and after reading endless reviews and comparing images on flickriver I was swayed by the the bigger sensor and better lens of RX100. I think it depends what you want out of the camera but I was prepared to live without wifi, NFC and EVF. My criteria was a capable portable camera that I can have with me at all times with the additional bonus of being USB chargeable. I really wanted the RX100M3 as that ticked every box but was just a bit too pricey.

RX100 screen is much better than most in sun light. Takes great pictures and good price, voted hot!

considering this or lf1 which has viewfinder, specs for rx100 says it has " white magic" screen for easy view in sun light.

How many times have you had it replaced? I take it you only get one year to send it back?

Comment thanks for that. I think your deal looks better than mine so I think I will go with yours!

Nikon S32 also worth considering - shockproof, dustproof and waterproof. White colour is currently £69.99 at Currys and John Lewis:

bought one for my son for Christmas as he is away with the school in July, seems durable enough as he has "accidently" dropped a couple of times. We haven't tried the waterproof bit although my partner is keen to try in the carp pond we have the garden lol.. I also got for 69£ then used the 10£ first time shopper discount code from tesco

Maplin have the fujifilm finepix Xp170 for £71.99 (free delivery and poss. £2 quidco?) - we got it a couple of days ago and would be perfect for basic photos at the beach. Came with 4gb memory card and a quality case included) - if it breaks, well I haven't spent a fortune! It has handy wifi link up to transfer to iPad / iPhone / android device via app.....this works as I was dubious!

Was going to say (I only paid £57.50 though ;))

Can confirm that this is 100% UK model DMC-TZ60EB-K- Panasonics casback is processing at the moment. Found a decent case for the camera, fits very well and leaves you some room for accessories inside, if someone is looking for suchlike this can recommend it : Cheapest 11.20gbp with free UK delivery.

I bought this camera when it launched and it's impressive. Wi-Fi transfer and connectivity, NFC connectivity, and a host of camera modes when I don't have me SLR. The zoom is impressive at x30 optical and picture quality is fantasic. A must buy.

- it's a good company some of my friends bought from them. Basing on their reputation do you think that they would have risked their good name displaying Panasonic's casback deal then left you empty handed I doubt. Btw I checked it with their customer service, the camera is coming today, once I get Panasonic casback accepted I'll confirm it.

hi good deal are these genuine uk one or imports? "Good customer service, but received a non UK spec Sony rx100 from them which was obviously a Hong Kong import (in camera menu in Chinese, etc) Not advertised as such. I sent it back and to be fair, they quickly refunded me. If buying double-check with them that you are getting a UK spec camera and not an imported model, etc. " 5th comment down about grey imports//

this camera seems to tick all the boxes and has GPS too -

I haven't bought this yet as I have 28 days to do so via John Lewis at this price. The only thing I'm debating is how poor is the viewfinder. I'm used to my Fuji X100 which of course is a different class to this. I'm looking at this, TZ60, RX100, S120 as my pocketable compact. So much choice

Top rate camera for a top rate price. Great lens and larger than normal sensor means this camera is similar to the Canon S120 but has a integrated electronic viewfinder.

Amazed by negativity on this. I can't find a better price anywhere, and for a camera with this sensor size/mpixel and a viewfinder it's pretty much on it's own.

Just to also inform you John Lewis have price matched this for me.

Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR Digital Camera on UK Digital Cameras, £149.00. Bundles available too. Free delivery @ UK Digital Cameras

One of the interesting things about this particular model is that it has the EXRII sensor, which gives it hybrid AF — use of contrast detect, as normal in a pocket camera, and also phase detect. This really is the most significant feature — it is a huge advantage, and is hardly mentioned in any of the promo material. We’ve got the F770EXR, several generations prior to this, and that really is a nice camera (I prefer it to the Pana TZ30 in most ways except video, for which it’s the other way round). This F900EXR is probably as nice too, with more advanced feature infestation.

To be honest, Im not sure how the Canon is on low light, reviews are very mixed on it, I had a play with one in Best Buy whilst in America and found it to be really nice to handle and took fab pics in the shop. Also was smaller than the Fuji. Im happy with the Fuji, but think id have been happier with the Canon lol. Always the way with me mind you, lol

Canon s110, sony rx100 are both coming down quite a bit lately. The rx100 is great low light but probably rather pricey. Camera price buster is good for finding deals. And techradar and dpreview fav websites for reviews.

That Canon looks interesting, although seems to have short battery life. Do you know how it performs in low light? Looks like you can find it for £140 these days. I might look into that further, try to find a comparison between that and this Fuji. Thanks for the pointer :)

Hmmmm, just been to vegas with the fuji 800exr which i know is the older model. It was brilliant in daytime but just ok at night time. I nearly bought the canon sx280, but couldnt get it in time for hoilday at the price i was willing to pay, kinda wish i had now.

I actually purchased the RX100 yesterday to try it out myself from a nearby store, and found that night shots were very good only if I used shutter mode and set the speed i.e. increase to 1/60. The camera then increased the ISO to compensate for this. However, if you leave the camera in auto it seems to pick 1/30 and this is susceptible to camera shake as I found out last night. Read the forums on this issue for RX100.....loads of posts. The canon simply goes down to 1/15 or 1/8 shutter speed and still takes a steady shot. This also made me realise that the RX100 would not allow me to to take handheld pictures of silky smooth flows of streams and rivers because of the bad image stabiliser. However, the canon would be able to do this without an issue. No doubt the RX100 is a better camera than S110 but these kind of shortfalls are surprising for such an expensive camera.

I think rx100 is widely regarded as much better at low light. And not aware of any is issues. Costs twice as much though.

Indeed but the LF1 is newer and from all reviews seems to be of similar performance but with the added benefit of the EVF and longer zoom.

the s110 is known to be a very high quality compact, and is often chosen by professional photographers as their pocket camera of choice.

Nice camera, but it's £249 not £219.

well bought the tz 30 been playing with it and must admit very impressed with it

Got the TZ 20 (zs10) 8 months ago did not pay loads for it of ebay very pleased with it yes gets noisy if the iso is high Dont know what tony3 is on about with motion stabilizer found it one of the best Use the camera loads has excellent 1080p video recorded in H264 rather than m jpeg down side with camera is its noisy cmos sensor but it can do 10 fps at 14mp and even higher if you drop the resolution and 16x lens with 24mm wide angle Found i leave my bulky SLR and HD camcorder at home now and slip this in my pocket And this is the TZ 30 upgrade of my TZ20 What on earth is this move and shoot test just take real photos

The TZ30 has received universally good reviews, and it fixes the flaws of the earlier TZ10 and TZ20 which were also universally acclaimed. But hey, your move and shoot test in the shop is obviously a far better test than the dozens of experts who have spent days testing it in all conditions. And to criticise Panasonics motion stabiliser is also laughable, as it's considered one of the best around and has played a big part in making the Lumix cameras a household name. Personally I'm waiting for the TZ40 to be released - because then the earlier generation drops to £100 to ebay, and I can pick up a TZ30 for that price!

just off to our local camera shop today to have a look

Anyone used these guys on eBay - obviously imports from Hong Kong with a UK address:- S100 - £219.99

Yep, they never respond to those type of questions. Like I said the other day, they sell imports. I'm looking at a camera right here that was bought from them and it's a US import.

Emailed and no response... guess it's non-UK stock. I think I'd prefer to pay a bit more and get the wilkinson one.

I've emailed to confirm

Unfortunately not. These are US/Canada models and come with an travel adapter to convert the power supply pins. The S100 costs far less abroad which is why they are able to offer it at this price and still make a healthy profit. UK Camera Store are betting on the fact that UK Canon service centres _occasionally_ accept US models for in-warranty repairs. And when Canon doesn't, UCS claims to handle it themselves but it is unclear whether they use an official Canon service centre or not.

I have the sx30 and love it, i will see how this compares...

Whilst this is not at "Give Away Price" it is very good value.. . when you consider what you are getting for the money, a f2.8 - f5.0 24 x zoom lens ( 26 - 630 mm zoom) Image stabilization, face recognition, 14mpix, 3" screen plus Full HD @ 30 frames , and their are a few other good things including Raw images .. Ok it maybe not be up the Canon & Nikon pro cameras but not every person want to pay that price for such quality. . . ok some reviews may not have given it 10 out of 10 , but I do think some professional reviewers are in many ways perfectionist . . If you looking for a 600mm zoom lens Camera or a HD camera with a 24x zoom lens than this has to be great value I am considering buying this as a "Stand By" camera ( cheaper than buying a 600mm lens for my canon or buying a HD video camera)

whats better for this money?

good price but reviews aren't great. Softness, CA and barrell distortions, which can be corrected in Photoshop but "user friendly operation" apparently isn't good. Best read the review yourself before purchase
