I've been locked out of editing this, due to issues with trying to get the correct eBay link, but price in title should read £313.65
Heat from me, we have the F4J609WN which I got for around this price from currys ebay using recent code.
Assume only differance is the extra KG capacity. Very happy so far, quality and functions seem a massive step up from our old hotpoint which weirdly enough was removed the day before the recall.

Yes identical in every respect bar the 1KG. Both M-i-l and B-i-l took delivery of the 9KG version from Currys a couple of weeks ago with the 5 Year warranties. I've got the steam version which I've had for 2 years.

I feel sorry for Hotpoint because their rubbish models hark back to the Indesit owned legacy, before Whirlpool took over and are having to carry the can for Indesit's poor build quality.

Whirlpool's own products are on the whole pretty good.
how to add old machine recycling and unpacking?
If you have a Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine please check your model !!!!
People’s safety is Whirlpool’s priority, which is why we are proactively recalling certain models of washing machines manufactured under the Hotpoint and Indesit brands between 2014 and 2018.

Is not these machine have 5years warranty ...?

Unfortunately, not a qualifying model for the free extended warranty. But hey, look at the unbeatably low price and what you are getting compared to the similarly priced competition.

It comes with exactly the same internals as those models that qualify for the extended warranty. LG's build quality and reliability track record is so good that the chances of a repair occuring during those first 5 years are low, which is why they have the confidence to offer those free extended warranties.

The same could not be said if you were buying a similarly priced Hotpoint, Hoover or Beko etc. which are built using inferior quality components and thus will have been designed for a shorter lifespan. Some will only offer a 1 year parts and labour warranty, which frankly is pretty poor and doesn't instill much confidence that it will last.

Don't worry about that. Just email LG Customer Support and point out that the LG F4J609WN is shown on their website as a qualifying model for the 5 year warranty. They will eventually confirm, but can take up to 4 months. I had the same issue when I bought mine 2 years ago.

I did exactly the same thing, went to register online and saw it was only 24 months. I phoned LG up and the guy on the phone sorted it.

Btw, I had a 16 year old hotpoint and this new machine is amazing by comparison. Apart from when it's spinning the loudest thing you can hear is the actual washing tumbling inside the drum.

With my old machine things came out pretty wet really, with the new one they're 'damp' and it takes much less time to dry them.

I'm amazed your old Hotpoint lasted as long as it did. That's a lot longer than it ever had the right to!

But I have to say these LG's are in a league of their own and always have been since they arrived onto the UK shores just over 20 years ago.

I'm on my 3rd LG, but what particularly stood out for me this time compared to my previous 2008 model was the improved cleaning performance since the introduction of the 6 motion feature. The other was the introduction of the double glazed door, which helps to insulate the noise of the water sloshing in the drum further still. And the modern LED touch screen panel is a brilliant design. Looks very neat, very simple to use, flexible selection combinations with very reliable electronics too.

I keep coming back to this one, Beko Aquatech. Watch the first few seconds.
my Bosch washing machine died in 7 years.. That's pretty bad for a premium brand like Bosch. Bought this one as replacement.
Sorry I need to phone LG customer number ?..I had mine hotpoint 13 years but now the machine gave up.i just change machine door one time in 13 years .but now machine electric box gone that,s why I buy this machine .because these machine 5 years warranty .at least 5years you have free mind ...

It's the drum light, isn't it? Design wise, Beko are certainly catching up and if LG went to the wall, I would give these models some consideration. Mind you, the pricing of the Aqua Tech range is heading towards LG territory.

In line with many other manufacturers, Beko are using inverter motors to improve the noise and reliability, but these are not direct driven, which LG holds the patent on. This means that there's still a belt.

Noise levels on the Beko have been improved and are now on LG levels, so that's another positive.

Given the choice, however, I would still stick to the LG. Here's why.

1. The control panel and program selector dial is more refined on the LG and better laid out. If you were to try them both out in a shop, you'll find you'll get a better user experience with the LG.

2. The spin performance on the Beko is a B. On the LG it's an A. I'm not so confident that the Beko will spin the clothes to the same dryness levels as the LG.

3. LG's patented 6 Motion system gives outstanding cleaning performance. It really does a make a difference.

4. I am not convinced the Beko's build quality is comparable. Why does Beko never offer a free 5 year warranty on their products? What does that say about their confidence that this will last?

Unlike LG, which uses much of the same internals across the range (high end models excepted) Bosch models seem to vary in quality dependent on the model and use different manufacturing bases. The Neff and Siemens models are consistently better if you're buying from the Bosch group.

tempted with this but bought one from curry's a few weeks ago which was too deep for our cupboard, this is 40mm less so should be just enough, one thing i noticed is the waste hose is slightly too short and I'm sure I read it shouldn't be extended, does anyone have any experience removing the screw on the back which holds it up? it says not to remove but i wonder if it affects use at all? thinking we're going to see a similar problem with a lot of models!

The LG and Beko display panel are similar, the layout is basically the same with touch display buttons.

It also has bluetooth so you can control, monitor and add new programs.

My Beko fridge freezer sounds an alarm if one of the doors is left open.

I've been tempted by LG and Samsung but you can't get them in black to match my kitchen design.
Spending around £350 should get something decent.

1400rpm vs 1600rmp. An extra 3.3 spins per second.

My Hotpoint gets noisy at 1600rpm.

I take onboard the points and if the colour is a high priority for you, then yes the LG black and silver variants do cost rather more.

In regards to build quality and electronic controls, you can't beat comparing them in the flesh. Photos and videos don't do these any justice, so may be worth popping into Currys, so you have a really good feel for them.

Finally spin speed is only part of the story. It's also about the spin efficiency and how well the drainage function operates too. Some lower speeds paradoxically can dry the laundry better than on other models with higher spin speeds due to better efficiency.

Pay attention too to details, such as hinges, door latches and pressing down on the washer with the palms of the hands. The cheaper models will usually creak when you do this!
Edited by: "TheHun6" 20th Dec 2019
Beko has a more spread out range, you can buy a cheap model or a model that compares to a Samsung or LG.

Beko are no. 1 in Europe for white goods.
"The cheaper models will usually creak when you do this!"
Hoover are known for that.

Another thing I hate about my Hotpoint is that you have to wait 2 minutes before you can open the door after the wash is complete,

The Indesits of old were like that too. I hated them because with the mechanical controls and lack of beeps, so you weren't quite sure when your laundry was ready until you listened out for the fairly quiet door unlock click. Also the reliability and build quality was shoddy. Plastic latches that broke off and rubber drum seals that tore. Absolute rubbish!
Edited by: "TheHun6" 20th Dec 2019
Annoying.
They could have made it beep after that 2min wait.

Have a look on the Hotpoint and Indesit recall thread, another dryer went bang.

Just for future orders with Hughes Direct eBay store...
I put in a message with my order, the washing machine simply arrived with no comms from Hughes Direct. After it arrived I enquired and got this response. I should have called them up before ordering. Saying that I installed it myself, not rocket science but it depends on your set up where you are installing it.

That's good to know. Perhaps Hughes should make their installation and recycling instructions clear on their eBay listings?

Currys already give instructions and Argos have a dedicated separate eBay listing for items that have install and recycle as an option.

Freestanding installation is usually fairly straightforward, but as integrated appliances are generally more complex and labour intensive getting the installation becomes an even more important consideration.

The problem with more specialised integrated installation is that some retailers have a chronic shortage of trained installers. Take Argos, for example. If you just required delivery and collection, then normally you can nearly get delivery within 5 days, or in many cases next day delivery. However, if you add installation with the delivery, then it's quite normal to have to wait a month before there's an available slot!
