Powerful bluetooth/wi-fi portable speaker. Waterproof, shockproof and with Amazon Alexa functionality. 12-hr battery life. These speakers are good, and are £199 in most places.

The yellow one is available for £91.34 if you can stomach the colour!

Sound wise... does anyone know if these improve upon the Boom 2?
A lot louder and without losing it's clarity....not used it with Alexa though.Battery life awesome🔋🔋
Thanks (I think), have ordered for bathroom since the Sonos isn’t rated as waterproof
Still no spotify through alexa on these?
Just ordered the yellow speaker for £88.91. Looking forward to seeing what these are capable of.
looks like a price glitch, great find op.
Yellow is £88

Is it louder, are you thinking of the Megaboom?

With better sound than an Echo and a battery included, this is much better value than the Echo.

Heated.

Also says 3 months Amazon Music Unlimited included for new subscribers. Might be worth a mention in the title or OP.

The Play:1 is moisture resistant? So can survive in humid environments, just don't get it soaking wet. I'd take the improved sound quality and playback over this if it's for the bathroom

most bathrooms don't have the power socket required. Building regs in UK don't allow you to power in the bathroom apart from shaver points (or so I understand). The aggro to ceiling mount a Play:1 and then power it from the ceiling (and thereby having to power into the loft etc) - isn't worth it IMO for a small update in sound for the 15 minutes a day I might listen to it.
also on some of the forums a lot of people say the Play:1 is moisture resistant at normal height, ceiling mounting it would potentially leave it open to more moisture.
I did consider the Play:1 and how to mount it but this is just simpler that I could even take it in the Shower with me as opposed to leaving it outside the shower. Their website even shows someone dropping it in the bath - wouldn't fancy doing that with the Play:1
This or a Boom 2 🤔
I thought this was a picture of a coffin
The Meagablast is reduced to £199 as well.
Would anyone recommend this over a Sonos One?

me - though that is more a hope than proof. Mine is due to turn up today and I have an original Play:1 so will compare the sound quality. For me it was the long battery and the fact i can carry it into my bathroom swung it for me

I'm reading in reviews that there are quite a few issues and Alexa integration isn't the best. If you don't mind, can you feedback once you receive it please?

Wow this is basically the Boom2 and Echo Dot stuck together!!! Such a crazy deal.

I am not a true audiophile but hear (see what I did there!) goes.

Streaming from alexa, the blast is much louder than a 2nd gen echo. The quality gets distorted over half way but is very loud.

Streaming to two play:1 the same song via Alexa (on the echo) blows away the sound from the blast (to be expected I guess)

playing music from from the phone via Bluetooth to the Blast is much better quality IMO (guess depends on bit rate used on files). Playing same song via Bluetooth to the two Play:1 isn’t discernibly different.

The play:1 has the benefit of connecting to other streaming services such as Spotify/google music or even my own NAS.

If Sonos bought out one that was truly waterproof and could plug into a shaving outlet I would go for that any day (though I have only heard them in stereo pair so not sure how good on their own).

For my purpose it is a powerful speaker (I went for the induction charger also) that I will be able to just pick up when I want to move it room to room and not have to find a socket to plug into. I wouldn’t have it as my only source of music because there isn’t enough separation of instruments at loud volume. I will try some flac files on it later.

My kids kids both loved it and are currently arguing about who will be allowed to use it in the shower first. Neither of them!

havent tested the waterproofness of it yet but if it fails or anything I will report back.

So far though on initial testing, am happy with it and it will do it’s purpose I bought it for (use mainly in a bathroom
How does it compare to JBL xtreme
thought this was a coffin
Can’t seem to get the 3 months free amazon though. When setting up it launched amazon to register my device but have had no email with the offer through

Thank you for your review!
am tempted to buy a second one now. Playing FLAC files I can go to full volume and not lose clarity. They are 3332kbps files and sound wonderful

Alexa integration hasn't yet achieved perfection for many third party devices. Have a look at the known issues with the Sonos One. I'd buy this for being a good speaker first, and an Alexa device second.
Would this be any better than UE BOOM 2?

At this rate by late March they'll be giving this away.
Just bought one. This looks really good! I used Bose sound docks so interested to see how this compares. Thanks op! Bargain price!
As it states it is Wifi, I'm guessing you can stream from Spotify to it? i.e it is recognised as a device in Spotify.
GREAT SPOT OP! Just bought one for my sons birthday! My friend says this one is way better than the 2 so stuck with this on. Thanks!
Can anyone advise on the loudness and sound quality of this vs the Amazon Echo? I bought an Echo at Christmas and returned it as I wasn't impressed with the loudness and thought the sound quality was certainly "tinny" on level 9 and 10. Is the sound quality better and louder on this than the Echo?
any idea how does this compare to Bose soundlink mini 2 speaker with respect to music quality?
Great speaker!!!

yes - look at my mini review further up the page
Does anyone know if this works like Alexa and is always on. So could you have it in your bedroom, wakeup and say "Alexa play the radio" or would you have to turn it on first?

Half the benefit i see of Echo is that you can activate it with your voice.
Seems a great deal if Amazon Music is your preferred music streaming service. Gets excellent reviews even when priced at £200
Damnit! I was doing so well. Watched this all day, resisting the temptation to add to my collection of many echos and UE speakers, but:

a) I love the UE Boom; literally the best product at the most sensible price, with incredible sound and features.
b) I love Alexa. She saves me a lot of time, effort and trouble.
c) I love yellow. I wouldn't have to justify that if I was 5, when it's perfectly reasonable to have a favourite colour. I'm not 5.

So, yes, I failed, but now I have a perfect replacement for one of the Dots in the yellow lounge.

"Thanks" OP.....
I have one. The sound is great, the battery lasts for ages and it works well with Alexa
Looks like the price has been dropping£5 everyday. Not sure when to buy... I placed an order at 86 and now cancelled and placed another order at 81.
