Good price and I am aware that many garages pump oil out during an oil change but I'm a drain plug off and drain from the bottom type of guy.

The spec says it pumps engine oil at just 0.2 litres per min - that means it will take 20-30 mins to empty a standard engine - hardly "Ultimate Speed"!!! Wonder if that is a misprint??

Thought about getting something like this but I made some wooden ramps to drive the car up on instead.

Negative . All the rubbish and heavy oil be left inside the car using this . Better open the drain plug at bottom and let oil drain as it was intended

Agreed, but handy if you have accidentally over filled your engine.
The posts about leaving loads of oil in the sump are garbage. These are excellent, been using one for years. The first time I used this in a Mercedes with an 8 litre oil capacity, just for my own interest I drained as much as I could out with the pump, and then took the sump plug out. Got half an egg cup out in drips. Mercedes actually use these for main dealer servicing, and several new models actually do not have a sump plug anymore. This is an excellent price, the exact same model is double this price in auto factors.

That's another reason why I will never buy a Mercedes.
As above, the days of cars having sludge and crap in the sump are long gone.

I know BMW use a system like this to just suck out the old oil from above and then refill with new oil.

+1 I bought this pump last year, drains majority of oil in less than 10 minutes, change filter, pump out any leftover oil, fill up, job done.

Edit, it also means you're more inclined to change your oil at more regular intervals, no jack's or axle stands, no removing trim from under vehicle, no spilt oil on floor or oil down your arm, pumped straight into old oil container ready for tip.

Thanks OP. I've been thinking about getting one of these for mid-year oil changes. As cheap as the cheap eBay ones but with a 3 year Lidl guarantee.

Just noticed, offer starts this Sunday 11th February so need to wait a few days before popping in.

My Passat which I've had from new currently has 175k on it and runs like the day it was bought - so draining the the sump has been working for me.

If it were true that "the days of cars having sludge and crap in the sump are long gone" why are manufacturers still fitting oil filters and insisting they are changed at defined intervals during the warranty period??
This is a great piece of kit. As mentioned before this is the way more and more cars are serviced through main dealer. I mange to do the family cars with ease.

Plus it saves you having to get under the car or even jacking up the car. You don’t get the oil left on your driveway or on any of your clothing whilst doing it the sump plug way.
Any good for syphoning petrol from the fuel filter? It says diesel but nothing to suggest petrol too.
Have been waiting for these to come back in stock and unlike most lidl deals they havent ramped up the price on this........yet.
0.2L per minute is too slow. This type is much faster ebay.co.uk/itm…NVJ
