For an extra £40, i would go for this http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/samsung/le40c530/sams-le40c530

I have this TV and its excellent especially as it plays all movies off the hard drive even MKVs.

UMC? Never heard of them! If you're making this large a purchase, and people will generally keep a tv for years, get one that is known for its branding / picture quality. Not voted myself, but thinking its probably not that great a deal...

I have a UMC TV from Tesco, they are OK but every time you change channel on them they drop sounds for a few seconds. Irritating, wouldn't have one for anything other than a bedroom.

I got one of these last week and love it.

USB playback is a bit selective about which will work and which wont, but it's there. The Freeview is obviously standard def, but it still looks great on the screen.

Plays XBOX and PS3 beautifully on screen.

It is what it is, a cheaper end of the market TV, but when I saw it in Tesco next to a Samsung, I could see the pixels on the samsung and not this.

I'm really happy with it, and it's in my livingroom.

A few weeks ago a 42" Panasonic Plasma was available at this price. £300 is currently too high a price for a supermarket brand TV, when you can buy premium brand TVs for the same price or little more.

I bought a hannspree 32" from ebuyer, and the picture qualitys great (better than my old samsung), it's got the same if not better reviews of the branded make's, so not always the case that a less known brand is automatically lower quality.

they selling this at my local tesco as we speak, 300 quid cant be bad

I have it, I got it at Tesco, it was right next to a Samsung that cost more, and I based my decision right there on how the screens looked, because I could see the black lines between pixels on the Samsung, but not the UMC. £300 is a great price for this size, resolution and inputs.

They also give you an extra 6 months warranty if you register it within the week that you buy it.
