You don't have to use the FP reader if you don't want to. This uses the same type of FP reader as the recent Elephones though and they do seem to quite strict and precise.

what about HMRC?

I have just cancelled my order for the Elephone p8000 which I ordered on pre-order. Advertised dispatch was 25th July and they still could not confirm a dispatch date on the 12th of August. Not saying it's a bad phone but be prepared for the phone to take a little longer than you bargained for, for it to be shipped.

They're a bunch of A-holes. X)

At last, a phone with an IR port! I was actually looking for IR blasters for smartphones. Not sure why everyone dropped IR ports, always found them very useful. Decent spec for the money.

You can always use the normal pin lock that every other phone also has. So not any more easy (or difficult) than others.

1Ghz hehehehe. is this explosion proof?

I hope this one is as durable as the previous model (google for a video!)
UMI have a wheel-spin promo on their website as well - you might win a voucher up to $100 off this model...
anyway, I'm waiting for the first "this is rubbish compared to a phone four times the price" post.

Avoid Focalprice! I have also been waiting for the pre-order of Elephone P8000; promised ship date of the 25th of July. Paid for express delivery and yet to receive anything. I have also tried cancelling the order to get a refund, but FocalPrice are adamant they shipped it but the tracking number shows incorrect information (shipping on the 12 of August) when the claim the 8th of August and registered to unknown destination when it should have been by express courier!

Do me a favour, that one is even more rigged than the Flamedeer contest.

Probably something like a Smart Ultra 6 in terms of CPU and RAM but this has a lot of extra features.

Pre-order, will be dispatched on 10/09/2015, is this to be believed UMI Iron was supposed to be launched two months ago and now the despatch date is 20th August.

The UMI Iron has been shipping pre-orders for the last fortnight. A few people on here have them.

1Ghz Quadcore is going to seem awful compared to even the most low end of devices, more like the Smart 4 Turbo than the Smart Ultra, probably not even up to those specs. Interesting features for sure but not much use sat in a drawer because it's useless

I've caught the China phones bug ... I'm getting myself the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 ... $125.00 ... X10 goodness.
It's due very sooooooon ...

why get this when you can get a Smart Ultra 6. Personally I have tried too many of these "China phones" and have not been impressed by any of them. Specs always sound impressive until you experience the bad software.

I got one for my son, nice phone BUT awful battery. Google UMI Hammer battery problems: supposed to be 2250 mAh but actually 1750, and judging by the one in my son's phone, bl awful 1750 at that. Other than that (battery), nice, fine (...haven't tried bashing screen with hammer, yet, though with that battery may come to it).

sorry, I was talking about the original Hammer, not this big 'un.

The hammer part can be used to whack UMI people doing job when they fall asleep during 24 hour shifts. The rest can be harvested for interesting electricals.

Some great ideas in that, not least USB-C charging port but just let down by some of its specs.

Not least a sub-par HD screen stretched over 5.5 inches. Shame really, looked good initially. Still think it's a great price though so heat OP.

HOT. Would have considered this but I ordered, in the week, the Onetouch 2 for £128.00(Gearbest). It then dropped on the site to £115 two days later. Oh well such is life. They are processing the order as we speak.

At least the crap screen should give it decent battery life (assuming they haven't lied about the battery size again). Be interesting to see if it suffers from same issues as other budget manufacturers.

curved screen? nope, its curved GLASS on the screen, theres no screen on either curved edge, having said that the reviews and specs are passable so decent value f a little misleading

seems a nice phone, I do wonder about the 1ghz quad-core processor as soon as you start installing apps though...

Spark please stop posting these!!! I have ordered the Be Touch 2 and P8000, now I want this one too, arghhhhh!

I think this is the best looking of all three to be honest, I really like UMI design AND IT HAS USB TYPE C oO
Shame it is the mt675 but I wonder what that will translate to in real world performance.

Very true, the software would not pass qc for most western manufacturers, its a good price but I wouldn't use a china phone as something to rely on as a daily phone, ok as a second or as something to play about with.

Thinking of getting a Chinese style phone, can anybody reccomend something good for around £150, I have an original moto g which is not a bad phone just starting to slow down a lot since updates. Thanks in advance

Another dodgy non UK deal

The Smart 6 might have decent core specs but just a few reasons why someone would pick this over it...

Dual sim
Metal
IR blaster
Finger print scanner

Sorry to point out the obvious.

You are right - this wheel promo does feel rigged, had a lot of $20 codes but some of the sites offer $20 off anyway. However, in the build up to the eMax release I did win one of those for the promotion price of $109. So maybe some people will get lucky.
